That has to be the most ridiculous comment made from so-called believers.

It is ridiculous.

Anyone who reads a Bible will see that it is given to us by God through the Jews. But catholics are not saved because they believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1), and catholics and don't read the Bible, so they just believe whatever they're told

Catholics dont believe that they wrote the Bible. They collected all the writings of the apostles and disciples and decided which were inspired and which were not. They put all the writings into what is known as the Holy Bible. The Bible stood unquestioned until the reformation. The New Testament in the Protestant Bibles is the same as accepted by the Catholic Church. The protestant movement is only a few hundred years old. The Church of Rome is 2000 years old .The One, Holy , Catholic and Apostolic church is the true Church. The Holy See, Pope Benidect is the true succesor of the Apostle Peter and the Vicar of Christ.

The individual books of the Bible were written by various writers under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The Church, as the pillar and foundation of the Truth, examined the various writings claiming that inspiration, also under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Those were established as the Canon of Scripture.

And since there is only one body today which is the direct line of that early Church, yes it WAS the body now known as "Catholic" which did the work. But the Church has never claimed to have written the Bible.

GOD wrote the bible through men infused with the Holy Spirit.
Catholics just put together and Protestants just took things out.
what's more funny is the stupidity of people saying Catholics don't read the bible. those that don't attend mass aren't practicing Catholics so they don't count but those who do get a healthy dose of the bible every time they attend mass!

"They" do not.

The canon of Scripture was, however, determined by the same process that the individual books were written; through men, inspired by the Holy Spirit. Those "men" were of the body of Christ -- the Church. As distasteful as it may be to anti-Catholics that the Bible they hold in their hands came to them through generations of Catholic ones, creative revision of this history doesn't change the facts. Every Protestant Bible now has the O.T. canon favored by the reformers -- plus the entirety of the N.T. as brought forward by the Church. So before anyone rejects the "Catholic Bible", they should keep in mind that they would also be rejecting their own New Testament.

Hello,

I am RC and am well aware that the church as we know it started in the 4th century under the initial initiative of Constantine. Before that there were many different Christian churches as illustrated in part in Revelations, all having their own vestiges from different parts of the Roman Empire and quirks and quarks.

The old testament was written long before Christianity arrived and the New Testament throughout the first and second centuries. Most Catholics I know with basic education and a few ancient history courses over the years know this... perhaps you ran into a few that lack knowledge unfortunately.

They never wrote the bible, nor have they claimed to. It is just that the "bible" we know today was largely put together by the Catholic church. There are many books and gospel (apocrypha) that are not recognized just because the catholic church thought they were harmful to its own doctrines. For example, there are books that claim Jesus was married etc. No one should trust the bible anyway, how can we be sure it is what it is? What about the apocrypha?

The justification for your question is seemingly sad. Sounds as if you've met some rather uneducated Catholics. Too bad. Most Catholics I know KNOW we didn't write the Bible, and we may not even agree with everything in it, but we (for the most part) do try to follow it's teachings.

Don't let these ignorants sway your clear mindedness.

It was written in the first century Church fifteen hundred years before there were Protestants or any Christians besides Catholics. All of the writers were Catholic under the inspiration of the Spirit. This is historical truth.

The Catholic Church determined the canon of Scripture (what books belong in the Bible) at the end of the fourth century. They did not write it.
