When i was little, i was bitten in the face by a dog. Consequently from this, i was left without a front left front tooth, and have a had a fake one on a retainer for about 10 years now. I am finally able to go and get a tooth implant now that my jaw has stopped growing, but just wanted to know about how much it would cost. Also, the procedure of actually implanting a tooth, and how long it would take for the procedure and healing time. Any help id greatly appreciated. Thanks

My Dentist (Olathe, Kansas) charges $1500 per implant. It is a 3 step process. The mold of your mouth is taken so they can make the tooth and x-rays are taken.

A second appointment is made to make a small incision in the gum and and a post put in the jawbone.

A third appointment is made for 2 weeks later to set the tooth on the post.

I am sure each dentist is different but it will probably be pretty close to the same.

Well first I would like to say that I fell for you. It will run you anywhere from $1200 to $2500 depending on the dentist and the issues in your mouth. Now not to scare you but, do research on the dentist, I had a implant done a couple of years ago and it was very painful and I was very swollen for about a week. But the worst part is He did not do it correctly and he ended up cracking the upper gum line bone in 6 places! So after about a year of migraines and very intense throbbing in my face, I saw a second dentist that was shocked to see my x-ray. He then informed me that the reason I had been in so much pain was because my teeth on top were shifting from the bone being separated, and it would cause them to start falling out or breaking off because there was nothing holding them up anymore! So after months of severe pain and 11 separate surgeries I now have a mouth full of fake teeth and bone graphs put into my upper gum line. It really sucks because I am only 30. And I was 26 years old when it happen, And I have a $8000 bill from it. I will never be able to eat certain foods, and I lost 75% of my taste. Something to really think about! Good Luck!!!

I've had 3 done. This is what happens. First a hole is drilled in your upper jaw bone and a metal stent inserted (base for the fake tooth). Takes about 2 weeks to heal. Then the false tooth in attached to the stainless steel stent. Cost can range (depending on who you select) between $1,800-$3,500. Mine were $2,200 each. And it works great.

Word to the wise. When dealing with implants find somebody who specializes in implants, not a dentist who just happens to do implants.
Look for a dental surgeon (periodontist) and make sure he/she has done lots of implants (experience counts for everything when it comes to implants).

The costs vary by region and specialist. I paid $1,800.00 per implant. There's additional cost for abutment (attaches to the screw and holds the crown) and crown (usually done by your general dentist). In my case that runs as much as the implant. I could probably find it cheaper but I don't want the hassle of going to another dentist.

In your case you want something that will last the rest of your life and that would be an implant.

That is just what happens. Depending on what your Dr charges. They aren't cheep but it is the best way to go. It is a very easy procedure healing is fast. In a few week from start to finish you have a very nice aesthetic restoration. You will be happy.
