That'd be priceless if that happened today...

Most scholars say that she was probably a teenager. But that was very common at that time. We need to be careful that we don't apply the standards of what was an appropriate marrying age then to the standards of today. It really is only in the last century that it was considered wrong to be married as a teenager. Even in the early part of the 20th century girls we still getting married at 16 or 17 in some parts of the country. In the 1800's if you were 20 and unmarried you were an old maid. Of course people are living well into their 80's and 90's now. That used to not be the case.

The Gospels don't document this. However, the oral Law contained in the Talmud tells us that it was customary to permit a marriage to be consumated when the bride was no younger than 15; consummation was assumed after the couple had spent 7 nights alone together. (The ceremony actually took place after the consummation.) This is relevent because the Gospels do record that Joseph and Mary cohabited during her pregnancy, which wouldn't have been permitted unless she was of marriagable age. My best guess is that she was 16 or so when she gave birth.

Depends, are we allowed to bring in apocryphal references or not?

In the books that made it into canon of the Bible the Mother Of God is not worthy of even a short biography.

Depends on the book. In the Gospel of Peter, she's 12. Gross. Most agree that she was around 14 or 15 though.

The BIBLE doesn't say. Some people think she was little more then a child, others think she was a full grown woman. There is some evidence for both, out not enough to rule out ether.

In those days, girls were married off somewhere around 12-15 years old. I would say she was in that range.

Love this question.

Makes all the Christian criticisms of Muhammad and his child bride look a bit silly and self serving doesn't it.

Edit:

25!!!!! She would have been an old spinster by then. The life expectancy was only in the 40s.
