If it feels like your teeth are straight???

Sure, you think your teeth are straight, let's take your braces off. Then 2 months later you go back to him complaining that your teeth are reverting back to what they were before. There's a reason they stay on for 2 years. It's not a fashion thing. If they take them off early, your teeth might not "set" in the new position. Just deal with having braces in your pictures for your 21st.

It depends on how well you wear your brace and bands (elastics if you have them). I was supposed to have mine for a year and a half, but i just got them off 3 months early, but with a longer time, you could end up getting them off 6 months early. But you will have to brush really well (especially under the bottom set of brackets), try not to wear anything that will break them and worst comes to worst you'll have to get a really funky colour for your party. (lol) but you also might get your brace off and get given a retainer, in which case you can take that out for whenever you want.

your ortho is the only one to make that decision. It is possibly to have them off early. I was in junior high when I had mine, and got them removed about 2 months early. they key to helping them come off early, is do everything they tell you to do. if you must wear rubberbands, wear them. don't chew gum, etc. be the model patient. my brother was not as fortunate, he had to wear his an extra 4 months. his wires kept snapping and his brackets kept popping off. etc.

The older you get, the more slowly your teeth move. so me at 12 and you at 20 are different. Just follow the ortho's instructions and you should be OK.
