no. The PS2 simply cannot process the bit speed necesarry to run a PS3 game. However, a PS2 game will work on a PS3.

ps3 games will not work in a ps2 however a ps2 game will work in a ps3 its because a ps3 has more updated information and the ps3 games have that the ps2 doesnt support the ps3 games

I would consider getting him something other than the PS3 my son has the PS2 and PSP. For his b-day which just passed i asked him what he wanted he said an XBOX 360 and i asked why not PS3 he said it was no different then the first one and you can't play all the same games so you basically start all over w/ games and stuff. Just my thought!

PS2 games use DVD's, PS3 games Blu-Ray DVD's and PS3 games are way more technologically advanced than PS2 games. A PS2 doesn't have the technology or hardware to run a PS3 game.
A PS2 cannot play PS3 games. The only way to play PS3 games is to get a PS3.

Nope it wont. PS3 incorporate Blue Ray technology, PS2 is simply DVD. Also PS3 games need the advance processor it's console has.
However, PS2 games function greatly on PS3 console

No,because the ps3 discs are blu-ray and the ps2 discs are dvd's.The diffrent between them is huge!The ps2 has a lot more games than the ps3.And a lot more exciter!Just go to gamespot .com and go to ps2 and then go to all ps2 games.You will be shocked!

nooooooo...no way. lol. ps3 is wayyy more advanced! LoL~! but ps2 will work in ps3 but they already said that! umm...yu COULD try finding that ps3 game 4 the ps3!! unless its ONLY for ps3 but alot of the games are on Ps2 too

nooo unfortunately not, but you can play ps2 games in the ps3,
just not the other way round!
