Why don't they focus on who really matters, and that is Jesus Christ. Did Mary take away the sins of the world? Is Mary God in the flesh? Did Mary die a horrible death on the cross so we sinners could be saved? Did Mary plan the salvation? Did Mary really have a choice in it? Could she have refused God? Please put the Glory where it belongs---On Jesus Christ, our living God, who was in the beginning, and already had the plan set in motion!!!!!! He is the one we should focus on and worship. No one else!

Johnl--I don't need any rosary beads to pray to God. Where is that in the Bible??

The Phantom--Yes, Mary watched her son die on the cross, yes, she was the mother of Jesus. She is not, however, the mother of us. Just how does Mary lead us to Jesus??? I can talk to Jesus without anyone else inbetween, and if anyone tells you that you can't, they are a liar.No where in the Bible does it say "Mary is the way to Jesus!!!"

Pugwash--But, Jesus IS God! He is God incarnate, God in the Flesh. Immanuel (God is with us) "In the beginning was the WORD (Jesus) and the Word was with God, and the WORD WAS GOD." John1:1
Jesus said "I and the Father are One."
Jesus said "If you have seen Me, you have seen the Father also."
Jesus said "Before Abraham, I Am."

Sparki77-- I have been to a Catholic mass, a Catholic wedding, and a Catholic funeral. It is evident that Mary is exalted as soon as you walk into a Catholic Church. What Catholic church does not have large statues of Mary with a crown on her head? What Catholic church does not say prayers to Mary?
Why do you say Mary had a choice to have Jesus? You better read Luke 1:26-35 Nowhere does it say that Mary had to agree with the angel. He simply told her what was to take place. GOD CHOSE HER. AND GOD USED HER AS A VESSEL, because He found favor with her.
I didn't say that Catholics believed Mary did all those things. I said they worship her AS IF she did.
I believe that Mary was the mother of Jesus, and that she was highly favored by God, and that she was blessed by God, but I also believe it is wrong to worship her. And you can say you don't all you want, but if you are praying to her, that is worship. If you call her "Holy" that is worship. There is none Holy, except God almighty.

Because catholics are idolaters. Those with a false gospel always fall into idolatry.

Catholics are not saved because catholics believe a false gospel of works that leads to eternal hell (Galatians 1).

Catholics are more intent on Jesus than on Mary, and if you would ever be kind enough to read our Catechism or come to Mass just once, you'd see that. It's not true to say we put more focus on Mary than on Jesus. You can prove what is true yourself simply by reading the Catechism or observing our worship (Mass).

Did Mary take away the sins of the world? No, and no Catholic believes she did. We know that Jesus is our Savior.

Is Mary God in the Flesh? No, and no Catholic believes she is. We know Christ and only He is God Incarnate.

Did Mary die a horrible death on the cross so we sinners could be saved? No, but Mary laid down her life so that Jesus could be born so that He could go to the cross. So she has a role in salvation -- a sub-role, to be sure, nothing nearly as important as Christ, but a role nonetheless.

Did Mary plan salvation? No, and no Catholic believes she did.

Did Mary have a choice in it? Could she have refused God? Well, the Bible seems to indicate that she did in that she was notified of God's intention and agreed to it before she was impregnated by the Holy Spirit (see Luke 1: 26-38 if you are confused).

We Catholics DO put the Glory where it belongs, on Jesus.

You can stop believing these lies about the Catholic attitude toward Mary any time.

Here is the Catechism of the Catholic Church on line for you to read for yourself, with your own eyes, so you can see I tell you the truth:

And here is the Compendium to the Catechism, which is a shorter, Q&A format & easier to read.

Please don't be afraid of the TRUTH. It will set you free...free from all these lies you believe about Catholicism. You agree with Catholics more than you think you do. Help bring peace to Christ's church and read the truth about Catholics!

I am a catholic, and I rarely get wrapped up by Mary. Prayer to Mary is not part of the mass, except in the occasional song on feast days. My focus is the trinity. It seems to me that the issue of Mary only rears its head when non-Catholics need to find something to bash, at which point they blow it all out of proportion.

I think Chris is CJ in new clothes. I recognize the broken record. . .

Mary was the mother of the one who takes away the sins of the world. She is the Mother of God in the flesh. She watched her son die on the Cross. Did she really have a choice in it? Yes, she did. She could have said no - she was asked, not told. Mary leads us to her son Jesus Christ.

edit:

"Yes, Mary watched her son die on the cross, yes, she was the mother of Jesus. She is not, however, the mother of us. "

I disagree. She is not only the Mother of God, but in a sense she is our mother too.

"Just how does Mary lead us to Jesus???"

Consider this: Yes Jesus is God - God the Son made man, but He is also fully human. The human aspect of Him of comes, of course, from His earthly mother. His mother's womb was a sort of "earthly tabernacle" holding the Body of Christ. She nurtured Him and raised Him, and she became His first and greatest disciple.

Christ's first public miracle was at the wedding feast at Cana, where He protested to His mother that it wasn't His time yet, but because His mother asked, He took care of the wine problem there. In the same way, if we ask His mother to intercede on our behalf, what better way to bring our petitions to Him knowing they will be answered?

"I can talk to Jesus without anyone else inbetween, and if anyone tells you that you can't, they are a liar.No where in the Bible does it say "Mary is the way to Jesus!!!" "

No one is telling you that you can't talk directly to Jesus. We (and I) do it all the time. There's no harm in petitioning His mother either though. A word or two about the Bible - The Bible was compiled under the auspices of the Church, and would not exist (the NT that is) without the early Church. There is a vast body of oral Apostolic teaching and tradition (it's mentioned in the Bible BTW, Paul among others speaks of "all I have told you and wish to discuss with you") that is not in the Bible, but which has been preserved and passed down by the Church. Sola Scriptura religionists really miss out on all of this. Yes, in 2 Timothy it mentions that Scripture is good for preaching, teaching, etc. but it isn't the whole of Divine Revelation. The Church (which Christ Himself founded and is the Head of) and Apostolic Tradition and Succession figure into all of this too.

Aren´t we in communion with all of heaven though God? Or does God exclude us their company, even if it was for our benefit?Aren´t we entrusted to Mary just as St. John was entrusted as his mother by Jesus Himself?

But Jesus himself is NOT God. Jesus is the son.
Almighty God is the one who spoke from heaven when Jesus was baptised.
(Mark 9:7) And a cloud formed, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud: “This is my Son, the beloved; listen to him.”
