According to the Book of Zohar, the first human WAS a hermaphrodite -- which God then split into two beings: Adam and Lillith. Lillith was kicked out of the garden for insisting that she was Adam's equal (specifically, because she wanted to be on top during sex).
God then proceeds to create a second wife for Adam, out of nothing. Adam witnesses her being assembled, and sees that she is "full of vile secretions". He's so grossed out by it, he refuses to have anything to do with her. The fate of Adam's second wife (who is never even given a name) is unclear.
The third time around (which is the edited version you now find in the bible), God first puts Adam to sleep (so he won't be sickened by the process) and makes Eve from one of his ribs (so she'll always have to be subservient to him).

In Genesis 1 v21-26 it says that God created every living creature on land and in the sea to produce after their own kind and to be fruitful and multiply. Animals would not be able to reproduce unless there was a male and female of each kind. Genesis 1 v26-31 seems to be what confuses people when they read it because it gives an account of God creating man in the same way he created the other creatures of the earth, from the ground and that woman was created at the same time as man (27God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.) Them? It seams to some people that God created a Man and a Woman in the first chapter then they just disappear because chapter 2 talks about God creating man again. But what happens in chapter two is a more detailed account of what took place on the sixth day in chapter 1. In Genesis 2v7-25 it describes how God made Adam and that he made Eve, right after He placed him in the garden of Eden, to be a companion and helper to him. So there were not just boy animals, not a hermaphrodite Adam and the Eve story wasn't simply metaphorical. This conclusion is all based upon the text in Genesis. Weather someone chooses to believe otherwise is up to them.

Right at the beginning of the bible is says and God made them both male and female. Adam lost his right rib which brings up an interesting point because it's the only bone in the human body that will grow back. Adam was told to name all the animals and to find a mate. When he was finished naming them he still had no mate so God made him fall asleep and then made Eve.

That's a great question I never thought about and I was sure I pretty much thought about everything. But you're right: if God had to take a rib out of the male (Adam) to create a female (Eve), did god have to do that for every male and female animal and insect that crawls around the earth? And if god didnt do that, and he just made the animals, why couldnt he have done that with the female (Eve)? Great question.

This is silly.
Although the Bible may contain some valid historical references, don't tell me you can believe that "God created Earth in 7 days" stuff.
If you do then all I can say is "Open your mind". Nobody was "made" from anybody's bones. That is just a story to explain things for the simple-minded peasants in the middle-ages, and to place women in a subservient role to men. We have hopefully advanced in our mental and spiritual development since then...
Organized religion and it's often-ridiculous dogmas have been used to enslave the minds of billions of people throughout the centuries - it's a mode of thought-control to keep people in line.
There are few who can even think of the concept that God is ALL that exists. God didn't just create something and then stop. The Everything that IS God is in a continual state of creation that never ends - think of it like an ongoing television broadcast...
Perhaps a more difficult thing to get your head around is "time" as we perceive it does not exist - it is an illusion that is the result of our limited scope of perception. So arguments about what came first are not really relevant.
Time is as nothing to God, and everything that comes into existence does not necessarily have to have a cause in the past.

Exactly. You've hit the major problem with Genesis. It doesn't make sense. (Because it was cobbled together much, much later to "fill in".)
Here's another fun one. As God made animals, they kept increasing in importance. Then God made man, who was better than all the animals. And then - God made woman. As the last creation, by sheer precedence, she is the best one of all. Yet that's not what we read. Kinda funny how logic goes out the window in this book of the Bible.

In my opinion, Genesis is the hardest book to understand because it tries to explain the beginning of everything but offers no evidence other than "and God said," and, "it was good."
I think the reason you have all of these questions is because you are looking too far into it. Hopefully someone will prove me wrong.
Good luck, though.

the creation of animals was entirely distinct from the creation of man (man was created on a different day).
this is proven by the way that we share none of our dna with any other species.
