To transfer your PS2 memory card game saves onto the PS3's hard drive, you need to buy a Memory Card Adapter. The Memory Card Adapters for the PS3 cost $15 dollars, you can find them in stores like Walmart, Target, and Best Buy.

Also, there is not a wired PS3 controller all of the PS3 controllers are bluetooth with Sixaxis controls, but it doesn't have vibration. In Spring 2008, the new Dualshock 3 controller is coming out with the rumble/vibration and the controller will still have the Sixaxis controls and will still be Bluetooth.

As everyone else said, you can but it'll require an adapter. The memory card adapter will allow you to tranfer your old game saves on to the PS3s harddrive. However, keep in mind that the 40GB PS3 doesn't play PS2 games at all. The 80GB does, but it's software emulate so all your older games may not work perfectly and occationally not at all. The best PS3 is the 60GB (US).. but those are no longer in production. The 60gig has hardware support for the PS2.. meaning it had the actual PS2 emotion engine chip in it. Although even then, some PS2 games may not play perfectly or the same on a PS3... just like many PS1 games didn't play perfectly or the same way on the PS2... although it was to a degree that fewer people noticed.

The only way to use a PS2 memory card on the PS3 is a Memory card adapter you can purchase anywhere. And sadly, no there is not a wired PS3 controller. However, they each come with a USB cord if I remember correctly.
