These "brain zaps" usually occur in some people who are stopping certain SSRIs. However they could be a side effect. They should diminish or disappear as your body adjusts to the higher dose. I would definitely talk to your doctor about it. Maybe a gradual increase in dosage may help. I had them when going off an antidepressant but went back on and then gradually tapered off and was okay.

I'm expeirencing them right now! Not from eefexor though, celexa.I have taken effexor in the past and I found that even if I was a few hours late in taking them or if I missed one completely I had brain zaps. It could be because your dose was just increased, but if it persists you should let your doctor know whats going on.

I only experienced the brain zaps when I first started taking Effexor when I was on 37.5 mg. I just lived with it and once I got up to a higher dose, they disappeared. I'm up to 300 mg now and I'm fine. All you can do is talk to your doctor about it.

i took effexor xr 2 different times and the first time i had the same side effect as you but i didn't mind. it was nice to finally have a desire for sex. actually, the second time i was hoping for the same effect but no luck. i guess it was the other meds i was on and i ended back up on prozac which is my mental health drug of choice. in my research prozac works best for BPD as it isn't an actual mental disorder but rather a personality disorder. anyway, enjoy and appreciate your boyfriends libido.

i've experienced this when coming off an antidepressant or forgetting to take it. call ur doc. i've not heard of it happening when increasing meds. it is a freaky feeling. if ur feeling in a haze, the dose may be too much for you. like i said, call ur doc so he can make any adjustments he thinks will help.

No sweetie, I haven't, but I would suggest that you talk to your doctor about it. I have never had a problem with Effexor, but maybe he increased your dose too high....good luck honey...
