ATLANTA - More than 1 million cases of chlamydia were reported in the United States last year — the most ever reported for a sexually transmitted disease, federal health officials said Tuesday.
"A new U.S. record," said Dr. John M. Douglas Jr. of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
More bad news: Gonorrhea rates are jumping again after hitting a record low, and an increasing number of cases are caused by a "superbug" version resistant to common antibiotics, federal officials said Tuesday.
Syphilis is rising, too. The rate of congenital syphilis — which can deform or kill babies — rose for the first time in 15 years.
"Hopefully we will not see this turn into a trend," said Dr. Khalil Ghanem, an infectious diseases specialist at Johns Hopkins University's School of medicine.
THIS is one of today's headlines. My Question:
Is this what happens when the "Atheist View" comes into effect? OR could this be a "Christian" thing?

WOW. I didn't expect this kind of reaction...But at-least it was a good topic to discuss, yes?

And I think that both sides should be aware of the situation.

Both, it's a rebellion thing.
The Savior said, for this time period, we will see disease epidemics; but not just disease epidemics, the worst disease epidemics ever in history.
If one looks back in history at the plagues such as the worldwide influenza epidemic that struck in 1918 and killed nearly 22 million by 1920, you should be able to see a little of what the world is bringing on itself in the coming months. In fact, it has already started.
What is bringing these diseases? They are brought by the same thing that Yahweh warned Adam and Eve about in the beginning and He warned the Twelve Tribes about in Leviticus Chapter 18.
Through uncontrolled illegal lust, mankind creates breeding grounds in women who have multiple sex partners or sexual relations with animals, and within men who have sexual relations with other men or animals, even birds. Although these things are condemned in the Holy Scriptures, men think they are smarter than Yahweh so they rebelliously use their own bodies to demonstrate their foolishness as the Prophets, Apostles and the Savior prophesied.

If you were to read beyond the headlines you would discover that the larger percentage of those cases are in the more religious sections of the country. Some inner city kids, but the less fundamental the area the more the use of proper birth and STD control is evident and the fewer unwed pregnancies and health problems. Funny though, the catholic church once owned the worlds largest condom factory.

What? Is sex Atheist or Christian? Look, these disease rates rise due to peoples incompetence towards safe sex. This is not a Christian nor Atheist thing. We as a people are becoming more and more mentally challenged. I mean, come on! No condom=Bad results and possible baby. Condom=less chance of disease and no baby. Unless of course you want a child, then you just need to be cautious. It's common sense people and these reports are showing that we are losing more of it every day.

Okay, first of all I have no idea what it is that you're really asking, and second why do people always seem to forget all the other religions and assume that if you're not a christian then you don't believe in anything? And what does religion have to do with outbreaks of gonorrhea anyway?

It's a health "thing". Overuse and abuse of various antibiotics has caused antibiotic-resistant forms of diseases. Lack of education or belief in the education given is another problem... people just doing what they want. Religion, or the lack thereof, isn't necessarily to blame.

I dont believe that this has anything to do with Christian or Atheist. This has to do with responsibility for yourself.... If you follow the Christian way then you will know to wait till marriage and before then you and your partner should get tested.... I am not sure what Atheist believe to be sacred. But besides religion people should know that safe sex or no sex is the way to go. If you can't be responsible for your actions and respect yourself then you will have to deal with the consequences of your choices.

We could easily destroy these diseases, and save the next generation untold suffering, but we are unwilling to do so.
Imagine 30 years from now, if a sufferer said to a civic group: "We made mistakes just like everybody else, but we helped eradicate these diseases in our lifetime!"
That should happen, but it won't.
That's evidence that man has little clue in general, and that most wisdom and intelligence rests in someone far greater than all of us. I believe that's God.

A stiff pr_ck has no conscience - and no religious view either.
I'm sure the atheist crowd will attribute it to teaching abstinence instead of sex education and Christians will attribute it to a lack of moral principles due to atheisim. Its likely a little of both but mostly the increased awareness of teenagers to sex, our changing social mores regardless of religious belief.

It has nothing to do with spirituality. I believe Christians are having just as much sex as Athiests. They just don't talk about it. After all, God made us all to have sexual desires...so just because a person is a Christian, doesn't mean they won't give into temptation. It's the smart ones (Christians or Athiests) that will have enough sense to protect themselves.
