Generally anything Japanese or Korean is expensive to insure as they are more expensive to repair than say a Vauxhall or a Ford.
Also, anything with the word "coupe" in the name has the insurance racked up as they assume you will drive like a lunatic.
If you want cheap insurance, try a search on Autotrader or Moneysupermarket, and enter different car types.
See what results you get. I got a really good deal through Moneysupermarket.com
Another thing, if you are cohabiting your insurance will be cheaper than if you say you are single.
Apparently single people are a high risk.
Complete rubbish, but that's what several insurers told me.
How about a boring Mondeo or Focus until you've built up some no claims bonus, then go for the car you really want?
They are both good reliable cars.

Go to http://www.wisebuyers.co.uk/motoring/car-insurance/What-Group-Is-My-Car-In%3F/17/, as that will tell you what group the Hyundai's in, or you can search by insurance group. Then look it up on eBay to find your perfect colour. For example a 2002-2007 Hyundai Coupe starts from insurance group 8. Bearing in mind my first car was a 1.2 fiesta, and that cost me £600 to insure and that's insurance group 4, so the Coupes gonna be expensive on insurance. Have a look at the site, and see if you can find something you like that's a lower group.

The smaller the engine the cheaper the car and the lower the insurance premium. Some of the price guides give you an IG for the insurance group and this and this is a good guide. Generally speaking the age of the car does not come into it

RE :First car - Cheap insurance?
NOT a tiny one, such as a corsa, fiesta, polo or golf.
I'm looking to pay between xx- £2000.
I'd like something sort of saloony, in black.
I WAS looking at a Hyundai Coupe.
So something like that if possible.
I do choose best answers!
