because we feel
feeling is the most amazing and yet the most horrible experience
I hate it sometimes , but would never want to be without it
if you have ever seen the film Equilibrium .. you will understand this more

It's an emotion that is part of our being. Did you know that God gets sad, too? Just like a father that sees his own kids just doing the same wrong things that he just warned them about, or when he sees the brothers and sisters fighting over trivial and stupid things.
That is what it is to grieve the Spirit of God as well. We are made after His likeness and image. Is it any wonder that we also have those same traits and charateristics?

Short of clinical depression, which is a chemical disorder. Clinging and attachment to things that we THINK will make us happy always makes us sad when things don't meet up to our expectations, we can't have them etc.
True happiness is understanding the true nature of all things... that they're here due to causes and conditions, changing and IMPERMANENT. It's really hard to put this into perspective sometimes, especially when you're sick, but it's the truth.

Because we want to be sad. If one genuinely did not want to be sad, one would not be. Its an expression the same as spoken words.
Bad makes the Good, Good ... vice verse.

If we could never feel sad, then how could we feel happy? How would we know it was there. If we were totally without emotions we would not have it.
