You bring up some good points. I'm an immigrant myself, and it bothers me when I see the hatred expressed towards immigrants and other minorities in america, when you really think about, this country was built on the backs of immigrants. I believe that all the hatred and disrespect comes from ignorance and lack of knowledge, just like racism. There are so many bigger problems in the world that we could put our minds on and fix together as one, we all need to show more love towards our brother man and stop letting ignorance dictate the way we view other cultures. When americans go to my country, we receive them with the warmest welcome you can imagine. Why are my people an exception when they come to america? we come here because it's the land of opportunity and like anybody else, we want the chance to experience the american dream. God bless america.

I can't agree, simply because I don't see it happening. I work with legal immigrants every day - my boss is from India, and I have coworkers and superior here from Bangladesh, Vietnam, China, Korea, Mexico, Scotland, Quebec, Brazil, Pakistan, Palestine, and Iran - and I do not see them treated any differently than any other proffessionals.
But then, I live in a very diverse, cosmopolitan area, and people here are just used to dealing with all sorts on a daily basis. The only issue where I see some resentment from my fellow native-born Americans is language. As long as immigrants speak just enough english to be understood with some effort, there's no resentment - but, when they can't communicate, I notice frustration. And the resentment is palpable when a specific immigrant community uses it's native language to distance itself from the rest of the community and form an exclusionary enclave. This happens, here, with spanish-speaking immigrants (presumably mostly Mexican), and with the Vietnamese expatriates who fled here after the fall of Saigon.
Oh, you mean illegal aliens, not legitimate immigrants. No, I don't agree with the way they're treated. They /are/ real criminals, and they need to be treated as such. Respect is a two-way street. Staying in the country illegally is disrespectful to the American People, as a whole. I would have no problem having a respectful dialogue with foreigners petitioning, from thier homeland, to have legal immigration to America streamlined and/or increased.

From what i have seen, new and old immigrants alike are just as concerned with the way illegal aliens are treating America and Americans. The lack of respect from illegal aliens is profound to say the least.
Edit: Those passions do exist, and the same thing happens, those murders and rapists feel that they could get away with their crime. They do not see the impact that their crimes have on a family, or a neighborhood, or a community, or a nation.

I disrespect those who disrespect the laws of this country.
ILLEGAL INVADERS should be treated as TERRORISTS, because that is what they are.
If they want respect they should fllow the law and come to this country the way my great grand parent did, LEEGALLY!!
They got jobs.
They paid taxes.
They learned ENGLISH!!
They voted.
They supported their new found country.
They assimilated.
They flew the AMERICAN FLAG HIGH AND PROUD!
They Did NOT-
Sponge of the government.
Sneak into this country.
Protest in the streets.
Demand benifits from AMERICAN TAX PAYERS.
Burn our flag in protest.
Try to turn this country into the one they left.
It is a shame to see what ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS do in this country, and I am proud to see AMERICAN STANDING up for themselve and saying ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
If these criminals want repsect they should show some respect!

I only disrespect those people who have broken in to our country and is stealing from me in way of freebies. I know many Legal Mexicans who hate illegals cause they had to go through the correct channels so why shouldn't everyone else!
I generally go out of my way to be kind and respectful for that is what people should do. It makes for a better world. I have almost bit of my tongue we I wanted a McD burger in a Wal Mart and all 4 workers were having a good time jibbering spanish for several minutes before one took my order. Are they not being disrespectful to me? It works both ways. Are they not being disrespectful speaking spanish as they walk along on their cell phone. Are they not being disrespectful when they allow their several children to run in the store and get in friont of my basket and I have to wait for them to move. Are they disrespectful when they run into my car and I have to pay for it on my uninsured policy and be inconvenienced. Just maybe the shoe should be on the other foot!!!!

The LEGAL immigrants are respecting me and my country.
The ILLEGAL criminal aliens (not considered immigrants) are disrespectful from the moment they enter my country illegally.
The ILLEGALS need to be rounded up and deported. The time for that is coming.

Oh speaking of disrespect....
In Tulsa, OK I have been flipped off, called every name in the book, mexican men grabbing their crotches in front of little children and I had to watch these despicable people drag America's Flag in the gutter while they waved the mexican flag high in the air. Our local media was there but REFUSED to show their DISRESPECTFUL behavior of not only our flag, but the very people that financially support them.
So yes, I disagree with you very much. Now that Oklahoma has the new law into effect, it has had a very positive effect in our State. I'm tired of people coming into our Country and disrespecting our laws, me and my children.
If anyone is disrespecting anyone, it is not myself or my fellow Americans.

I agree. I'm being disrespected when someone is in my bank account, using my taxes to live off of. That would be illegal aliens.

It's virtually impossible to do that. When you pass an Hispanic on the street, do you wonder whether he/she is illegal? Of course not.
So, I'm really not sure exactly what disrespect you are referring to.
