Hello Jess,

I have a solution or 2 to help with your situation. I strongly suggest opening up a bank account. This not only establishes a relationship with a financial institution which helps gain access to credit cards and other types of loans, but it also equips you with a powerful tool to build credit: a checking account that allows you to pay on time. A lot of major banks (Bank of America, Wells Fargo, USBank) all offer secured credit cards which require a deposit that's used as collateral in order to establish a credit line. For example, you deposit $200, your credit line would be $200. You stil would have to pay back whatever you spend on the card as the deposit is only used unless the account is sent to collections for not paying. This is the easiest type of credit card to get especially without a previous credit history. Which brings me to this card called the Ultra VX Visa. It's a combination of a prepaid Visa card and a secured credit card like I just mentioned. It offers billpay and paycheck direct deposit just like a checking account as well as deposit account to establish a credit line just like a secured credit card. This would be a great option to work with because it would kill 2 birds with one stone in this case. I posted the link to it below, and I suggest you check out the website in its entirety before signing up!

first, have him stop cashing his paycheck at a check cashing place. Those places are only there to rip you off. He should take his paycheck and open an account at a bank. Then he could write a check or get money out for FREE! I'd stay away from credit cards. "The borrower becomes the lender's slave" in the book of proverbs. He should save up money and pay cash for the computer. Some places offer 90 days same as cash, but if he is ever late or misses a payment, he'll be charged a lot of interest and it will effect his credit rating.

You will need a bank account to pay the credit card bills, so get the bank account first, and then the credit card.

You dont need a credit card.
Credit card companies make all the rules and can change the rules anytime they want. Just read the fine print.

Banks spend millions brainwashing people into thinking they need credit cards and high I love debt score to make it in todays world. Not True!
Live on less than you make and you'll win with money.

They only people that obsess with the Fico score are the ones that plan on borrowing lots of money and pay lots of interest.

A bad credit score from not paying your bills is trouble. If you have a 0 score from not borrowing money You can still get a job and an apartment and whatever else.

Debt Free is Definitely the way to be!

Hi they have a prepaid credit card at all Walmarts for a 9 dollar start up fee you can get one. It is called Green Dot. They charge a monthly fee of 4.95 and to reload money on the account there is also a small fee, unless you cash your payroll check at Walmart then they reload money on your card FREE. They accept them anywhere visa/Mastercards are accepted and great to use on the net. NO credit check either and you don't have money on the card you cant use it so you don't get yourself in trouble.

Do you have any kind of credit history from a cell phone, rental lease, car loan, anything? Without credit history, you’ll have difficulty getting a card.
