you can get free treatment within 24 hours if you call the helpline but I'm afraid they get the same money for pulling a tooth out (4 Min's) and to repair it (40 Min's) so guess what they go for? I'm 'lucky' enough to have an nhs dentist; I've never been violent in my life but the way I was treated I wanted to smack the dentist one. sozz.

Many dental schools have free or reduced fee services. Most of them are really good. Although a dental student usually works on you, an instructor (an actual dentist) checks the work. These are usually at Universities ... such as Ohio State. They usually have emergency clinics that can get you in right away, or are first-come, first-served. Also, some states have programs in which a group of dentists from different areas of the state will participate in reduced fee work ... in Ohio, it's Dental Options, but there's usually a wait of a year or more.

Sorry, there's no such thing as a free dentist IF you are working.

You only qualify for free dental treatment if you are claiming certain benefits, if you are pregnant and a year up to the baby's 1st birthday, if you are under 18 and in fulltime education or insome cases there is a form available which assess your income, sometimes you might be liable to free treatment (if on low income) or you pay a certain amounted stated on the ceritficate, the rest is payed for on your behalf....usually re-newable every 6 months ( I think??)..forms are HC2 for full help towards your treatment or HC3 for limited help ....ring your local benefit office, dental surgeries and opticians may also have these forms so worth asking them too...just ask for " help with health costs forms " and they'll know what you mean.

Sadly, for the rest that works..we all pay for all our treatment. I live in London too...there are 3 specialist dental hospitals in London...2 of which run dental emergencies..Guys hospital and The Royal London..its best to check out their emergency times though.

Good luck xx

If not free, then cheap would be a Dental Hospital Teacing School. There is one in Dundee, and in most major cities somewhere. Check the phone book under NHS services.

After that get registered with a dentist! Its better in the long run to have teeth! (though good luck in finding an NHS one!)

you need an NHS dentist but it will only be free if you qualify for free treatment (i think in england the criteria is the same as for getting free prescriptions). NHS dentist are extremely difficult to find at the moment though - usually when a new one opens its doors there are queues around the block by 7am! you can ring up NHSDirect for advice, or if you are in bad pain go to your local A&E (casualty) department. the only emergency treatment youll get is an extraction, but it might be worth it. your dr may prescribe painkillers but that wont sort otu the problem.

If you are in the UK then you will be able to phone NHS Direct in England or NHS 24 in Scotland, and tell them that you do not have access to a dentist. If you make it clear to them that you are in pain they will arrange something for you.

If all else fails, take yourself down to accident and emergency and tell them you must have the tooth taken out and that you are willing to sit and wait for 10 hours till priority patients have been seen. I know this because my friend did it, the doctor will numb you and pull it out with a pair of pliars. This is a last resort though.

In the meantime, take 2 ibuprofen every four hours, no more than that and no more frequently than that.

u should be able to find an nhs dentist, if u r on benefits pregnant/had a baby within last year or on low income u can get it free otherwise u will have to pay but it will be far cheaper than a private dentist theres fixed charges for the work they do . u can try yr local emergency dentist if necessary. this is what i did for my daughter when she had a problem, they treated her but said she had to register with an nhs dentist, they gave me a list of dentists and i had to ring round till i found one accepting patients. we were lucky and our dentist is absolutely brilliant.

No dentist can give you free service, as you have to at least pay for the materials, required during a dental procedure. At present I am only giving Free consultation service, for the time being. I can't give the service as i live in an another geographical area of the earth! I wish, i could help! For treatment ,you can go to any University dental college.

If you are not receiving any income credits you will need to pay, even if you attend an NHS dentist.
