A friend of mine is in Iraq and needs to transfer money to his fiance right away, but doesn't know how. She doesn't currently have any kind of access to his bank accounts, and he doesn't own any credit cards. Can any veterans, wives etc help me with this?

Perhaps "transfer" was the wrong word. They don't bank at the same bank and their accounts aren't linked in any way. He needs to "send" it to her.

He should be able to send a Western Union moneygram from any of the AAFES on a FOB. Its really beneficial for people in deployed relationships to have at least one joint account, even if they never use it, for this kind of situation. Is it possible for her to open an account at the bank he banks at? Then he could do an internal transfer to her account. Some banks will do external transfers between banks, I know Navy Federal and other major credit unions do.

He won't be able to transfer money right away unless she has an account to receive the funds. If this will be a regular thing, he should set up an allotment. Once a month she will get a check in the mail for the designated amount. Otherwise, she'll need to establish a bank account or get him to draft a specific power of attorney that gives her limited access to his account.

She wont be able to access nothing without a power of attorney paperwork to do so, which is always not the best case since some people take advantage of the poor military member who is deployed and comes home to an empty account! He can transfer over the phone (depending on bank) or through the web.

He should be able to set it up so that an amount goes directly to her checking account (even if he isn't on it) by making a change on his LES... however, that won't get her the money immediately.
A bigger FOB should have western union. And if he calls his bank they would be more flexible with him since he is deployed.

The answers about the PX and Western Union are good. A big question is what MWR facilities he has at his location. Is he at a forward or rear area, etc? He needs to talk with his first sergeant or XO ASAP if he does not have a readily available PX or Western Union.

western Union. If he is at an established location, there should be a WU office he can get to. otherwise..they are out of luck unless he wants to write a check and send it snail mail.

Same way you would, he logs onto his bank via the web, and transfer from one account to another.
