I never got into a real accident till last night. I was driving 5 miles/hour bumper to bumper rush hour on the highway (right most lane) when someone hit me from behind. I stopped and he waved at me from behind so I pull off to the shouder. He drove passed me and yelled out something in a mad manner and took off. I was able to get his license number. I thought about calling 911 but the accident was not bad and no one was injured. So I called my husband at home and he said he would call the police for me so I drove home. He did and the police told us to file a report online. In the meantime, we called our insurance company. What is going to happen next? Do I need to face the guy - if they find him? He kinda scared me.

Nope, your insurance company will handle this. You won't need to see him again.

He will get cited for leaving the scene of an accident, and yes you need to file a police report or your insurance won't cover the repairs. Screw that guy he needs to be taken off the roads and the only way that will happen is when honest people like you report him. Better now then when his rage reaches a point where he kills someone. Don't worry nothing will happen to you and you will have the peace of mind knowing you did the right thing.

Do file a police report and contact your insurance. They have the tools to track down this jerk and make him responsible for any damage he may have done to your car. You are probably fortunate he didn't stop. It sounds like he has some serious "issues".

Usually the insurance company will handle it. This happened to my wife and the person refused to pay. The insurance company got his drivers license suspended (and also his dads since it was his vehicle with no insurance). He paid quickly after that.

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO IS FILE THE REPORT AND NOTIFY YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY FOR YOUR PROTECTION.

IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS THE OTHER PERSON COULD FILE A REPORT AGAINST YOU AND THEN YOU WOULD BE THE ONE UP A CREEK.'

GOOD LUCK
