I don't think the Bible addresses that (as far as I know) It does say to respect your husband. It was pointed out to me in a Bible study that it does not say you must "love" your husband.
I am of the opinion that children should come first. And that husbands can come and go but children will always be with you.

Bible talk sucks but it makes sense to be at peace most with your spouse becasue that positive and ready atmosphere is what it takes to bring up healthy kids with healthy minds unless you give birth to someone with no conscience from the beginning then tough **** dude. But looking at the relationships in the US now, alot of people are divorce, they fight endlessly which means kids are always observant of this and have to live in broken homes casuing all sorts of mental problems...some learn to break out of the cycle but not all humans have strong wills. So yeah..I think loving your partener first is most important. After all, he/she are the ones you chose to have kids with.

If the husband loves his wife as Christ loves the church then everything will fall into place. But yes I do believe that we are to put our husbands first as long as he is putting God First. I will look into it for you and e-mail you with the scriptures later.

All these people who put their spouse above their children have obviously never been put in the position of actually having to make that choice. That's all I have to say on the matter.

When we did pre-cana, they told us the same thing. People often put their children first, but in reality you should always put your spouse first because you two are the foundation for your children and that your children will one day grow up and leave you but your spouse will stay long after.

The Bible does not talk about the quote you mentioned.

I don't think it should ever be an issue. You should never have to put one before the other. If you are being forced to make a choice, you should take a long hard look at your relationships.
