Very few Churches have lead in the roofs, however, the Churches do Raise Billions in all Currencies to Feed the Hungary, Heal the Sick, Give Sight to the Blind, House the Homeless, Build Hospitals and train the Staff to run them. I could go on and on, but the List would be endless. Many Christians have given Their All including their Lives to do as the Saviour Asked them to do. They have build places of Work and employed those who have no work. They have given food and water to those who have nothing, and have asked for Nothing in return. There is much more that needs to be done, and can be done, if more People will offer their Service. Now, may I ask one Question. Are You willing to offer your Time and Talents to Help those in Need?

Not particularly. A lead roof won't feed many people for very long and then what do they eat? I presume the needy you're talking about are the thieves relieving churches of their lead roofs and the railway system of its copper cabling. Perhaps you could ask the railway companies to donate their cabling - fetches more money than lead.

I hope the others who read your question can understand it better than I did, because to me it just doesn't make sense.
