I'm an atheist and I reject moral relativism. My standard is my own life and happiness.

The problem is the oxymoron created by the polarity of morality and the brain [home for those who fear the Unknown].
Morality is an aspect of ones Spiritual realm, administered by what I refer to as ones Apapsyche [Operational Energy of ones Soul]. It operates via ones subtle "intuition", which can only operate when the Attn Aspect of ones Aapspyche is fixed within ones Spiritual realm.
The "secular humanist or atheist" rarely allows the Attn Aspect of the Apapsyche to leave the Left-Hemisphere of the brain, and therefore [as a non-conscious psychological defense] closes off any possible subtle moral communication from the Spiritual realm. A diminished availability of conscience or discretion, in other words.
So, yes, your point is correct.
Peace

My morality is based on the preservation of my species and of truth. This is the stance of the average secular humanist or atheist; do good for your fellow humans and for truth because there is no god to support them otherwise.

Substitute the term subjective for relative and I'd agree with the question.

Yes.
That is why I don't go around with "atheist" posted on my shirt... I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised to find a rock striking my head... or someone beating me bloody (I live in the Bible Belt - it can be scary)

I don't see why it would be.
It really doesn't take much to figure out right from wrong.
