Maybe you could be pregnant...... You should go to your doctor if you feel tenderness with the bump & not sure what it is.
Good luck.

Just to be on the safe side, go see a doctor. It is possible that it is a hernia. What starts out as a small tender lump can develop into a major painful problem. Also seeing a doctor will give you piece of mind. It may be something as simple as a calcium deposit, but always follow the rule of, if you know that it really isn't normal or how it got there, get it checked.

A hernia of the abdominal wall is a protrusion of the abdominal contents through an acquired or congenital area of weakness or defect in the wall. Many hernias are asymptomatic, but some become incarcerated or strangulated, causing pain and requiring immediate operation. Diagnosis is clinical. Treatment is elective surgical repair.
Umbilical hernias in adults cause cosmetic concerns and can be electively repaired; strangulation and incarceration are unusual but, if happen, usually contain omentum rather than intestine.

You need to see a doctor. If it is a tumor they will have to remove it. There are four types of tumors, two non-cancer, one pre-cancer, and the all cancer. So check it out.

Lyle - Go to the doctor, it could be as simple as a hernia, but only a medical professional could tell you for sure.

When you go to your doctor, he will determine whether it's something to worry about. He will ask you to get an ultrasound to get a better look at it.
