Science is based upon measurable evidence and/or repeatable experimentation. Religion is based upon stories.

In the words of Dr. Wernher von Braun "To be forced to believe only one conclusion — that everything in the universe happened by chance — would violate the very objectivity of science itself...."
Amazingly, LEADING EVOLUTIONIST astronomer Robert Jastrow indicated that it will be necessary for science to come to terms with the supernatural. As he puts it: “For the scientist who has lived by his faith in the power of reason, the story ends in a bad dream. He has scaled the mountain of ignorance; he is about to conquer the highest peak; as he pulls himself over the final rock, he is greeted by a band of theologians who have been sitting there for centuries.”
. Newsweek magazine carried an article titled “Science Contra Darwin” (4/8/85). Unknown to much of the general public, the controversy over the origin of life is not just an argument between conservative Christians and hard-nosed materialists.
Some critics go so far as to liken Darwinism to creationism because of its slipperiness: it does not make specific predictions about what sorts of organisms evolution will produce, they charge, and so is never vulnerable to disproof. Like creationism, Darwinian evolution ‘can equally explain any evolutionary history,’ says ichthyologist Don Rosen of the American Museum of Natural History in New York in a recent book. So heated is the debate that one Darwinian says there are times when he thinks about going into a field with more intellectual honesty, the used-car business.
“Darwin is liked by Evolutionists because he liberated science from the straitjacket of observation and opened the door to storytellers. This gave professional Evolutionists job security so they can wander through biology labs as if they belong there.” David Copperedge: Speaking of Science, May/June 2003
Fight the good fight.

From what I know about "religions" I Think you have to have a "god" to go with it.
Most Scientist's (I have Heard) do not Believe in a god, GOD.
How could Science be a religion?
(sorry, don't know what "empirical" means--cant' find Dictionary either.)

Real stupid and idiotic answers, they fail to tell you that, don't they.
Because it isn't a religion and the Muslims are giving everyone a run for their money.
