Free will is simply our ability to choose between good and evil.

Our wisdom in making choices should govern free will so that we do not self-destruct.

I can DO what I wnat, but I also must be ready to endure consequences, or received blessings.

Free will is the gift of God. However, it is always within God's limits. We have far more choices here on earth, but what comes to the eternity, our choices narrow down to two: between hell and heaven. Free will means that we are able to choose, but the choices are limited. For example, we cannot choose not to honor God and still go to heaven or decide to die and nothing after that.

We are made in the image of God means that we know Moral Law ( God ) but we are free to reject it. We know what is right and what is wrong, but we can settle for the most popular vote instead of having God as a standard.

My definition is incorrect if one does not believe in God and all what He brings in with His Word

The ability to make my own choices, with the understanding that there are BAD choices and I alone am responsible for suffering the consequences of those.

Imagine you were put in a lovely house with a beautiful massive back yard that had a protective fence around it. The door to that fence is easily opened and you are free to walk through it any time you choose. But, you're warned of the danger lurking on the other side of what fence. It's your choice to walk through it or not.

The ability to choose what to do or what to believe.
God doesn't force us to believe in Him, we make that choice ourselves.
