lately I have heard a lot of the term "militant" atheist. It seems that if atheists (such as Dawkins, Harris, Hitchens) speak up, we're "militant" (not withstanding the fact that it's the religious nuts strapping on the bomb vests). Is this just the latest attempt (ala insisting Hitler was an atheist) by Christians to smear us?

Some of the atheists in here do not need help to smear themselves...they are doing a fine job on their own by hanging out in the religious section and badmouthing Christians

Good question.
A militant fundie is one who straps on a bomb and a militant atheist is one who says what he thinks.

Cowardly theists want everyone to be as frightened of Life and Death as they are and if they can't do it with LogicReason (the atheists' tools) they resort to DistortionsLies which are the most well-used tools in their arsenal cos it's what their whole scam is built on.

Some say "All's fair in love and war". Guess it's best not to have this war. Smear seems to be the way it's fought...something like political campaigning. Maybe somebody ought to set some rules...Reckon anyone would obey them when there is an overwhelming urge to hurt someone? 'Tis a mess indeed.

What Creflo Dollar (what a name!) is doing is incredible work helping HIMSELF to get rich! I could argue many of your theological points, but let me just point to one scripture: Acts 9:15-16 "15 But the Lord said to Ananias, “Go! This man is my chosen instrument to proclaim my name to the Gentiles and their kings and to the people of Israel. 16 I will show him how much he must suffer for my name.” " Paul is the man most people credit with really expanding Christianity in the ancient world, even to the point where skeptics and scoffers say he "invented" the religion. He suffered a great deal, everyone agrees, Why would God want His chosen instrument to suffer? I think you're smart enough to answer that one.

Well, if people would stop with the so called being offended and telling us that we cannot talk about God because it hurts you in some way is silly.

Being militant is telling me that I cannot pray - I cannot say in God We Trust - I cannot say One Nation Under God - I can't say Christmas or have a Christmas tree let alone an angel on top of my Chrsitmas tree. See those things are MILITANT and if you want us to listen to you then stop telling Christians that we are stupid, ignorant, retarded or any other word that you have for us. If you could leave us alone and therefore go your own way we would also leave you alone too.

Do not associate yourself with us and stay away from the Bible as well as anything religious and we will stay away from you and the things you believe.

There's no denying that Dawkins can be abrasive, but I think it's just Christians not being used to taking it the other way.

Not all Christians, of course. But a lot.

It appears that you may be showing signs of a persecution complex. Why is it that an Atheist can demean, belittle, and ridicule one who believes in God, yet if a Christian utilizes a term that you do not approve of, the Christian is trying to smear you? I have seen on this forum terms such as lunatics, crazy, foolish, naïve, dogmatic and many more used in reference to Christians. If you are not able to take it, you should not give it. Why can’t Atheists just go about their business and let those who would believe in a God go about theirs. Why is it that Atheist have a need to try to remove the idea of God from the lives of others. Why is it that Atheists have a need to prove that God does not exist? Perhaps, they are trying to prove it to themselves by proving it to others. Don't even try defending yourself by stating that Christians are always pushing God on you. If you believe it is wrong for them, is it not hypocritical for you to push your agenda on them? One would think that in this world, we have advanced farther then that and tolerance of others would prevail.

Smear you? We only wish to share our knowledge of the Lord with you, friend. Atheists make me sad, especially the ones that tell the world that there is no God, and that religions cause wars. I am a Christian and all I want to do is share God's love with the world.
