I'm beyond stumped... I've tried for 4+ hours and the TAs here won't help. They say it's simple and that I'm thinking too hard. Could anyone help? Sorry... and thanks for spending time answering...

Adder 1 gets A and B
Adder 2 gets CarryIn and sum from first adder (output is sum of full adder)
Or gets the carry out of the two half adders and gives carry out of full.

Look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adder_(electronics) and try to imagine replacing the gates in the full adder diagram with half adders.

Full Adder Using Half Adder

half adders have A, B input with S and C output

Full adders have a Cin input from a previous full adder

Full adders use two half adders and an or

S from 1st halfadder is A for 2nd
Cin is B for 2nd half adder

The C output from both half adders are Or'd into the final C output.

Look at this and it shows you the full adder
