You relate personal experiences through which you have gained your belief. You relate feelings that you've felt and blessings that you've seen in your life. You tell about prayers that have been answered, miracles that have been witnessed and that are documented throughout the scriptures. Then you challenge them to pray sincerely about it.
What all the naysayers here don't seem to realize is that it takes work and a large amount of humility to learn the things that you know. They don't have it, nor will they, until they are willing to make the sacrifices to learn it and have the true desire to know it. Hopefully your friend is open-minded enough to give respectful consideration to your beliefs.

Don't even try if they don't have a desire to know, you will only end up turning them away. Live your life in such a way that they will want to know where your joy comes from. Then you will have opened a window to talk with them about what God has done for you in your life. Then you will have explained how God is real to you and can be real for them also

You have to use personal testimony. Just like late night paid advertisements.
I suggest watching FOX or the CW at 4:30 in the morning. You will see people selling things that obviously aren't real, and obviously don't do what they are claiming they do. The way they sell so many of these goods is by getting rubes to claim that they work...
"I put Oxyclean on my bleach stained jeans and they came out of the wash good as new"...
Its all about the conviction of personal testimony. Truth and evidence has nothing to do with it.

I don't know. How do you? There sure seems to be an overwhelming amount of evidence that suggests God is not real. If you think of a way to explain God's existence, please share it with us.
Edited to add: Hey sansfear - Oxyclean REALLY WORKS! I've done numerous scientific tests with it, usually involving cat barf/my carpet. Unfortunately all scientific trials that God's existence have been put to have been pretty dismal for God, I'm afraid.
Oxyclean, though - I'm a believer.

Why would you want to? Do you have an obsession about this? Don't you have more important things to do in your life?
I suggest that you keep your faith to yourself...you don't need to try to spread it around. But if you really insist, get a degree in theology, become a priest or pastor, and then spread the word. You'll have more credibility and therefore a better chance of converting gullible people to whatever religious belief you subscribe to.

Try read some books on apologetics or Faith. My favorite is "Introduction to Christianity" by Joseph Cardinal Ratzinger. However, "Reasons to Believe" by Scott Hahn is much easier to read and covers about the same material.
Be strong in your Faith first. Live your life for Christ, love and respect your friend and lead very gently.

God is no more real than Zeus, Odin, Amon, Ahuramazda, Baal, Marduk, Yu Ti, etc., etc. No one can really show that any of these gods are real, but I can show why gods are not real. Holy books have many contradictions and errors in science that prove they are wrong.

If you need to explain it, your god must be pretty wimpy. Why can't he explain it himself?
