This resulted from complaints by Muslim Groups who demand to have the Qur'an made available also. Is this another Terrorist act by Radical Muslims who want to undermine the religious foundations in America?

Todd T - For your edification, Pschological Warfare can be a very effective tool for Terrorism or Convential Warfare. If you and the others believe that the Catholic and Protestant organizations of this country are without foundation, I suggest you look again. I did not say this country was based on religious foundations. Some of you folks need to learn to read the questions before responding.

I've always found it intrusive that bibles were in hotel rooms to begin with. It is presumptive and rude. I'm glad they are being removed.

I did not hear that announcement. Seems it would be a service to guests to have a number of holy books available at the front desk by request.
Of course, this is not a terrorist act. You need to read a definition of terrorism:
terrorism: The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons.
The only religious foundation in America is freedom of religion.
EDIT- Since you have given no reference to your original statement, and no reference is easily found on the Internet, let's assume you made it up, or are quoting someone else who made it up. Regardless, the connotation of your statements is that all Muslims are a threat to American Christians, and are succeeding in changing American way of life. You have posted not so much a question as a rally cry. Based on your own description of pschological (sic) warfare, does that not make YOU a terrorist?

I think the Qur'an should be in the hotel rooms too - I'd pick it up and thumb it through, and I'm a Christian. The whole point - I thought - of the Gideon Bibles was to provide a resource for those feeling lost to find an answer within the pages. So why not just add the Qur'an as an option. From what I've heard from educated scholars of the Qur'an, it does not advocate violence any more than the Bible does - you have to remember those terrorists are an extremist group, and Christians have theirs, too.
But I am against removing the Gideon Bibles. Who knows how many countless lost souls found comfort within those pages? It will be interesting to see if the number of hotel suicides go up.

Where is this news link??
Yes, it would be another movement to undermine the religious foundations in America...
If you recall, they have this dumb idea that everyone is born muslim and doesn't know it, so if they can force the quran under our noses and we reject it, we are being a bad muslim and must be killed....a long range chess game toward a jihad...
The Gideons pay for those Bibles....if any one has ever worked as a maid the Bibles are in a small box on the maid cart, but a fresh one in the room when it is made up....
copies of the quran if put on the maid cart will end up in the trash, never in the rooms...
take out the Gideon Bibles in the rooms...many christians will decide to take their business elsewhere.....

I didn't see that news report. It sounds unbelievable...there is no centralized bureau for all hotels and motels with authority to make that kind of blanket decision. Hotels are owned by individual corporations that must be negotiated with separately.
Gideon Bibles are placed by the Gideons. They do not sell the Bibles to the hotel. It is a volunteer effort.
If Muslims want Korans placed in hotel rooms, they must print them up and distribute them.

The bibles in the motel/hotel rooms are an old American Tradition. An AMERICAN tradition, not a religious tradition. That tradition stems from before there were telephones and most importantly television in hotel rooms. The bible was a book to read, something to keep one occupied, as normally the room would only be used for sleeping in, not hanging out.

Its a sad day when the religion that this wonderful nation was based upon is being rebuked. Another sad thing is that, this nation was set up with the idea of majority rule, yet we allow the minority to dictate what the majority can do. Although this was said to happen soon in Revelations, all this means is that the second coming of our Father is getting closer. Yes, it is horrible that this is happening, and we as Christians need to stand up and speak up unlike what we have been doing since the 1960's when the general population basically gave up on Christianity. We need to get back to having faith like a child and standing up for what we believe in. If the minuscule population of Muslums can get the Bible taken out, we as Christians should be able to get them back in. We just need to unite and fight for what we believe. This is Satan's ploy to make Christians deny their Father, and we need to stand strong and band together.

The 4th amendment has been shredded but I thought the 1st was still fairly intact.
What the heck lets get groups to put the holy books of every religion in motel rooms. That should make the Christians decide to protest, lol.

Why doesn't a Muslim group step up to foot the bill to place Korans in hotel rooms alongside the Bibles that the Gideons have provided? It is not like the hotels paid for the Bibles.
I don't consider it a terrorist act.

The religious foundations or America lie with the Native Americans who seem to have been a lot more sensible and pragmatic in spiritual matters. I think it would be quite sensible to have the Koran in hotels, and just like the bible it does not tell people to wage war on each other.

They revoked the 1st ammendment while I was sleeping?
Muslim groups are free to petition Hotels and Motels as Christian groups have.
There are Buddhist books in the hotels in SF's Chinatown. Seems like they got a jump on the Muslims...
