For example, instead of mindlessly squishing ants on the sidewalk, running squirrels over in my car, or annihilating millions of bacteria with mouthwash, what if I made a ritual of it?

It could be complete with candles, white clothing, and a Bible, and I could make some holy incantation in the Latin as I'm focusing the sun's rays on the hapless ant with my magnifying glass, or securing the squirrel's limbs in the middle of the road and blessing my Goodyears with holy water before going 0-60 over it.

If I acted upon these animal Isaac's, would God give me a boon for emulating Abraham?

pinkenvelope: Lower animals are of EQUAL value?! So does that mean every time I use mouthwash I'm committing genocide against millions of beings equivalent to humans?!

All: What if something in my heart of hearts inspired me along this path? What if that were God's way of communicating with me, that I should do these things to earn its favor? Not saying this has happened, at least I don't think so, I mean it's not like asking this question was inspired by some dream I had the other night where I was standing over an ant delivering death with a huge fresnel lens... or anything...

God made the animals.. I suspect he was rather disgusted with all the earlier sacrifices made to him... I mean really - what would he want with thousands of dead animals?

As it stands there are already millions of animals killed each year many not as food (eg animals killed simply because there are too many)

and I dont beleive the other animals are "lower" in fact I suggest People are the LOWEST form of life - we aer responsible for more destruction than any other species PLUS we are the only ones dumb enough that we need crap like "cell phones", "remote controls" and "pens"

you dont see any other animal needing anything like that do you???

God no longer wants us to sacrifice. When his Son Jesus Christ was sacrificed, that's when it ended. Some of the best ways to be blessed by Heavenly Father is to be Baptized by full emersion after the age of 8, confirmed into his only true church, receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, follow His and Christ's commandments, renew your covenants with him by partaking of Sacrament, and keeping the Sabbath Holy...for a few. Don't kill in the name of God.

i find that people who ask such questions usually think they have a good understanding of the bible so in jabbing at the christian relationship, they think themselves wise

so here is your answer

first, if you will worship the LORD, you have to do it as he says it is to be done.

what you describe is nothing less than witchcraft by biblical teaching. Witchcraft is another way of saying you are making an appeal to wrong authority, or if you did not understand that, the burger king religion, that is have it your way.

The LORD would not look on anything you are doing as anything more than the wages of sin, which is death.

As for abraham, you need to be a friend of God before you get to that stage, at this point, I can say that you are an enemy of Christ, decieved and lost.

You have my sympathy for you loss, hell is forever.

While it's not necasary to sacrife animals. I don't see why god would be mad. theres something in gensis talking about god giving the rule of plants and animals to us. So why not?
I don't advocate this behavior, but then again I'm not (a) god. btw do you have access to a higher animal? If you gonna do it might as well do it right and get you a higher creature I'm sure there worth more points.

No, because the covenant has been fulfilled in Jesus Christ.
That is why the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom when Jesus died on the cross.
btw the Jews didn't use Latin that is Christian.

man u offer in sacrifice only those ure gonna eat..and I dont like even the term sacrifice...it sounds like very dramatic..in islam when u kill an animal u pray to show ur gratitude to Allah for giving u food in the first place and u kill it in His name so he blessed the animal and protect u from any harm

still u should have been given a nice life to the animal u are eating

Jehovah God says that in loving-kindness he takes delight and in obedience to Him is of more value to Him than sacrifices. (Hosea 6:6)

"To obey is better than a sacrifice, to pay attention than the fat of rams" (1 Samuel 15:22)

Yes. If you burn your dog at the stake you will receive baked hot dogs. Of course they might turn out better on the grill. Charcoal is better than gasoline grills. Use Kingston charcoal. Your reward will be greatly given. >8P

No. Jesus died so we would not have to make any more sacrifices. He was the ultimate sacrifice so that animals did not have to be sacrificed any longer to cleanse us of our sins.

Ritualistic and intentional killing of animals would not get you rewarded but most likely punished. "Lower animals" do not exist all things in God's world are of equal value.

No, your "sacrifice" would be moot, since Jesus already made the ultimate sacrifice with His life.

But you may get rewarded with a visit from PETA.
