3 days before my due date and my partner as been told he will need to work 1 hour and half drive time away from were we live. I sure this is discrimination because i am pregnant. He will be taking two weeks off when the baby is born bet they don't like that. The closer i get to my date it seems the more he gets these jobs working out all over the place. i cant understand why the do not use some one else it always seems to be him. He is a mechanic. When he came back yesterday to the garage after being out in the cold and rain all day the other guys were all in the warmth with the heater on nice and clean playing cricket. (they are like big kids) He will be looking for another job in the two weeks off we both do not want him to work there any longer annoying that he will have to go job hunting on his two week off which should be with his family. I would love to smack the guys he works with over the head with the cricket bat lol

They know is situation i just don't think they care. It is a big company they tend not to care about anyone. his boss handed his notice in last week he has had enough of the place.

It is not discrimination but it is not right also. In the usa a man has a right to take maternaty leave also I see that he is doing that. Also due to the Family Medical Leave act He should be able to get a note or see if there is any special paper work from the employer that the dr can fill out stating that he can not be more then so many min away or what not to where they will have to keep him in a zone. This is not right and I would be hoppen mad

Unless you can prove that they are doing this to punish him because you are pregnant, it isn't really discrimination. I know how you feel though. When I was pregnant with my second child, my husband's company transferred him when I had 6 weeks left to go. We had to move (his new job was 2 hours away) and I had to get a new doctor. It really sucked. Then they expected him to go out of state when the baby was going to be 2 weeks old and leave me home with no car (we only had one at the time) a 2 week old baby and a 4 year old. Luckily he got another job and quit before he had to go out of state. We had to move again, but this time we moved closer to both of our families, so it turned out to be a good thing in the end. I hope that your husband's job hunting goes well.

Being an average working married father of two and 1 on the way I have quit jobs and reported them to the labor board for less than that. That is definitely discriminate practices which can be reported without him losing his job. A good way to resolve the situation is to have a decent conversation with his boss. (Don't be too mean)lol but let him know that you or your partner don't think it's fair the way they've been working him with you that far along. good luck with everything.

I don't think it is discrimination. Is he low man on the totem pole. If he is maybe that explains why he gets the worst jobs furtherst away from home. Have him talk to his boss and say during that week he needs to stay close to home to take you to the hospital in case you go into labor..

He is a mechanic. That is what grease monkeys do. He should be aware of this.

Another example of why people need to get an education, get married, find a good job and THEN have children.

maybe they are doing this because, "if you don't work, you don't get paid." maybe in a way, his boss is thinking he is actually helping him make more money before he will be taking time off.
