As long as you have an income of any kind, including Social Security, you have to file a tax return. There are some papers you can file if SS is your only form of income. This would be instead of the normal forms.

There is no age limit. At certain ages, your standard deduction increases and you stop paying tax on certain types of income (such as Roth IRA withdrawals), but you are obligating to file a return if your income is more than a certain amount, no matter how old or young you are.

Age doesn't matter if your making a certain amount of money the government insist on their part! The amount you make all year determines wheater you need to file or not,of ANY age!

Yes....the year after you die.
Even in the year a taxpayer dies, if he or she was over the filing requirement, a return still needs to be filed. Getting the signature is a bit tricky though....
