If one were to do a quick survey of this forum, you would think that the term Royalty belonged to England. Hardly anyone speaks of other nations. Apparently, Americans only know what their schools teach and a bias exist in this nation.

England is famous for its Royals. But,dear questioner,as an American,I can tell you that there is a great website at http://www.theroyalforums.com that covers worldwide Royalty, like Madeleine of Sweden,The Grand Duke and Duchess of Luxembourg, even deposed Royals like ex-King Constantine of Greek and his daughter-in-law,scion of American millionaire Robert Miller,Marie Chantal. She is one of the famous Miller sisters...but she is famous only to a group of people who read about fashion, society, the international set...those who read Vogue,Town and Country, and foreign publications like Point de Vue,Paris Match,British editions of Hello,Vogue...
I am American and was educated in private schools;French was spoken in my family as well as by other families in my school which was French in background and also an internationally based school...it depends on the social background of Americans as to what their knowledge of other countries may be,because not all schools are equal!

It's not so much the schools, honestly most Americans only know about the British royal family because that's the one we hear about all the time in our papers. And on a few occasions when we hear about other royalty like the "Italian prince" on The Bachelor, we don't know if they are real princes or fake, pretensious ones. That Italian prince only had royalty in his background, Italy hasn't had a reigning royal family for years. There's only 29 royal families in the world.

As an American who lived in Britain for a number of years, I used to ask the comparable question. i've got come to comprehend that many human beings help the monarchy as a company through fact they sense it supplies them a solid experience of connectedness to their long, illustrious previous. additionally, i think of they suspect it instruments them different than for different ecu international locations that when have been monarchies. And it does deliver the tourism money rolling in. I heavily doubt there would be almost as many travelers attracted to Britain's castles have been it no longer for the royals. in spite of each thing, there are castles throughout Europe that when have been inhabited by using royal families, yet how many human beings outdoors those international locations can call any different than Versailles in Paris? yet only approximately all and sundry is familiar with approximately Windor fort and Buckingham Palace in Britain. individually, I comprehend some large advantages of keeping the monarchy, yet they arrive on the fee of conserving a classification equipment through fact as nicely to the queen, there are all those dukes, earls, lords, and so on. conserving lands and in lots of situations, nonetheless inheriting the spectacular to take a seat down interior the domicile of Lords in Parliament and effect rules. it somewhat is imcompatable with the concept that the folk ought to choose for their government and it truly is at odds with a society that an increasing style of recognizes that each and each man or woman sould be judged on their very own man or woman accomplishments, extremely than who their mom and dad are. yet maximum Brits are nonetheless infatuated with their monarchy. I anticipate they're going to have it for a minimum of a technology or 2 greater.

The term royalty does belong to Great Britian. As a fellow American I care greatly for the British Royal Family and view them as Americas Royal Family and would even welcome Queen Elizabeth II and her successors as my head of state.
