I researched the Jane Fonda urban myth stories, and 99.9% of them, turned out to be pure swift boat malarkey. I like what Sen. McCain said about her visit.

Clearly not the ones that have returned home from active duty. Once you've served this country - they toss you aside.

*ding-ding-ding* Does Walter Reed ring a bell? Its within 5-6 miles of the White House & Capitol building - yet not a single politician was aware of the horrid conditions. At least not until the Washington Post broke the news. GIVE ME A BREAK!!!! They either knew & didn't care. Or they never went to visit our thousands of wounded solders, which = they plain JUST DIDN'T CARE... (oops, no photo opportunities = no visits)

The VA estimates there are nearly 200,000 homeless veterans currently LIVING in the streets in America. If any politician worth his weight in votes TRULY cared about our soldiers - we wouldn't have a single veteran living in the streets.

Have you ever heard of a homeless former politician?? They are quick to take care of themselves (hefty pensions/lifelong health care - post political career). Yet they quickly disregard our veterans. (among other things & people)

First of all the stories about Jane Fonda are not Urban Myth I lived through the Viet Nam era and saw the pictures on the news of her with the N Vietnamese solider that were parading our troops for a photo op. Secondly I support all of our troops that protect us, regardless of their political beliefs. The fact that they wear the Uniform of the US Military is enough to make me want to support them. Tom I find just the opposite to be true for my family when the Republicans are in office I can keep more of what I earn and spend it as I see fit, when the Democrates are in office they take more of it to give to those that are too lazy to support themselve thus those that are lazy get steak from Welfare while I have to eat hamburger. I am 62 so have live a good bit of time too!

A lot of Democrats do wear the uniform, but the military is still mostly conservative.

Where are the Democrats to support these troops?

A better question is why these recent veterans are homeless and jobless? Why don't they use the GI Bill and college funds to go to college. That is what I did.

I would expect that the Republicans - of which I am not one - support the same troops as the Democrats - of which I am one - and that means all of them that are out there doing the job they were tasked with.

I do not believe in this war, but the troops didn't start it, Bush did. Their job is to follow orders and that's all. So I support them and I support taking care of them when they come home. But I don't support the war they are being asked to fight and I don't care what party they belong to. They have as much right to their opinions as I do.

We support the troops that wear the uniform of the US military and many of us actually wore that uniform. Most military votes do go to the GOP = ) Veterans are more divided often because many want free hand outs that we werent promised while the rest of us just want those who did recieve injuries while on duty to be taken care of.

I am fairly conservative and support everyone who serves.

Trying to tie this article to a particular political party seems rather foolish. The dems seem to have made some serious gains amongst the elected officials. Why I'm almost certain Pelosi herself is introducing bills upon bills to correct this situation....right? Oh, maybe not.... so.... which troops do the Dems support?

I have to agree with "da hoob", people in the US live in fantasy land.
Everyone thinks they will be the one that "makes it" and lives happily ever after, when simple statistics prove that they will be among the 95% that don't, and will receive social assistance at some point in their lives.
Sorry to say it, but I do not vote to satisfy Bill Gates needs. He is perfectly capable of taking care of himself.
As an old man talking, here is a stark reality. When the Democrats are in office my family has steak for dinner. When the Republicans are in office we eat hamburger, and that has held true for the 70 years that I have been alive.
It has always seemed funny to me that the Republicans always suggest investing and not relying on social services, yet it has only been when Democrats have been in office that I have had the extra cash to do so.
When the Republicans are in office Exxon, etc,etc have the extra cash.

Retired Army, been to Iraq 3 times, didn't see any liberals.

Liberals denial of Jane Fonda is proof of the liberal motto that all truths are lies, and all lies are the truth...
