I really want to have baby bingo at my sister in law's shower, but here's the reason I think its a bad idea:
She lives in CA, but both families and friends are from NJ. The shower is being held in NJ. The shower is 5 days away, and 3 things have been bought off her registry. I think people are mostly going to give her gift certificates because they are smart and don't want her to have to ship everything back to CA. HOWEVER...I really want my SIL to have the whole experience of opening the gifts and everything!! I want to do baby bingo, but I'm afraid that there will only be a few gifts for her to open and that would make the game pretty sad:(

BTW...this is a baby shower...her bridal shower a few years ago was also here in NJ and she got 1/2 gifts, 1/2 giftcards.

I'm definitely giving her a big gift, but we're going to return it here before she goes back to CA, and she can re-buy it out there. It's just fun to open all the gifts. What do you think?

If we don't play bingo, can you suggest other games?

What is Baby Bingo? Anyway, perhaps you could buy small things like onsies, pacifiers, diapers for her and wrap them? Nothing says you have to get large things. A baby album or CD of soothing music, photo frame?

from experience, you can't go by the registry to see how many gifts will be there. People hardly ever get gifts from the registry AND hardly anyone updates the registry when they bought a gift.

go for the Bingo!

Maybe you can call people and ask them to wrap the gift certificates in bigger boxes so she'll have some to open.

I dont know. I hated opening gifts at my shower. I just wanted to enjoy my guests, it was uncomfortable to have to open each thing and oo and aww over it and tell them how much you love it and blah blah. Its exhausting.

I would pick different games.
