I have a 14 year old male tiger cat. No history of any illnesses, always acts normal (as a cat would). I have not changed his food (dry or wet), the type of litter used or any other thing I can think of. A couple months ago he had fleas and I gave him a bath (using the same shampoo used since I got him, and have used it several times throughout his life).

The problem is, he is now pooping and puking all over the house. He has chewed most of his fur off also, hence the puking. He does not have any fleas at this point either. Never poops in the same place either.

What is really driving me crazy is the constant wanting to be fed and the howling/meowing at all hours, when you walk in the room, when someone new walks in the room.

I find him staring off at nothing (like the wall) and it takes him a few seconds to snap out of it.

I am not a vet either, but I think he may have had a stroke. Is that possible? He is old I will admit, is it his time to go peacefully? I am sad.

You may need to take him to a vet. Maybe they can tell you what is going on. Animals do tend to have human illnesses. It is very possible that it had a stroke. I am dealing with a cat issue myself. Good luck!

Edited to add
I missed the possibility that the flea bath can be the cause of this. Nice catch D You need to go to a vet
First off, he's not that old. You didn't mention losing weight, poop problems or excessive drinking so I believe that eliminiates diabetes and thyroid problems.
The staring at the walls could mean there was a stroke or not.
The chewing of the fur indicates to me possible allergies and most allergies are related to the food you are feeding and the grains in the foods.

Nutrition since there are so many bad things out there is very important to your cat’s health
Contrary to what you may have heard; dry foods are not a great thing to feed a cat.
Please read the label on what you are feeding? What are the ingredients? Do you know what they mean? Is the first ingrdiant a muscle meat like chicken or meal or other things?

Dry foods are the number 1 cause of diabetes in cats as well as being a huge contributing factor to kidney disease, obesity, crystals, u.t.i’s and a host of other problems. Food allergies are very common when feeding dry foods. Rashes, scabs behind the tail and on the chin are all symptoms
The problems associated with Dry food is that they are loaded with carbohydrates which many cats (carnivores) cannot process them. Also, Most of the moisture a cat needs is suppose to be in the food but in
Dry, 95% of it is zapped out of dry foods in the processing. Another thing, most use horrible ingredients and don't use a muscle meat as the primary ingredient and use vegetable based protein versus animal. Not good for an animal that has to eat meat to survive.
You want to pick a canned food w/o gravy (gravy=carbs) that uses a muscle meat as the first ingredient and doesn't have corn at least in the first 3 ingredients if at all. Fancy feast is a middle grade food with 9lives, friskies whiskas lower grade canned and wellness and merrick upper grade human quality foods. Also, dry food is not proven to be better for teeth. Does a hard pretzel clean your teeth or do pieces of it get stuck? http://www.felinefuture.com/nutrition/bpo_ch4a.php

You mean faculties, not facilities.

He has not had a stroke. If he had he'd be far more debilitated, or dead.

Please take this cat to a vets, you have a number of problems to be looked at here. Firstly, he probably still has fleas because flea shampoo doesn't work. You need to pick up some proper flea treatment from a vets, like Frontline or Revolution.

Secondly, the chewing off of fur is most likely to be due to fleas. Or it could be hormonal. Get it checked out.

Older cats are very prone to hyperthyroidism. This is characterised by constant hunger, but not putting on weight.

The vomiting could be something else altogether. I suggest you get him a vet appt ASAP.

I believe what you mean to say he that he is losing his "faculties," not "facilities."

It's more likely that you have poisoned him with that toxic flea bath! There are substances that animals and people can be allergic to and which can have detrimental effects. It may have been too strong for him. That fact that he is throwing up and pooping all over the house ought to tell you that something is seriously wrong. It's NOT normal, and if you don't get up off your butt and stop wasting time on the computer talking to strangers you won't HAVE a cat anymore! GET HIM TO THE VET!!!

How long have you let this go?!! This is appalling. That poor cat is crying out for help and you just sit there on your a** and whine about it. It is his RIGHT by LAW to receive proper medical care and to deny it is abuse! Stop whining and stop wasting time. Get him to a vet TODAY. Something is toxic and hurting him. Has there been any painting done? Any new carpeting? Are you using any strong cleaning fluids? Your VET will ask more questions and will have to take tests to help your cat. This is not a game; this is serious! I know cats that have lived to 20. It is just appalling that at 14 years of age you can't be bothered to help that poor cat. You have the gall to say you "think he may have had a stroke." Then why haven't you rushed him to the nearest emergency vet?!! YOU are the one who think he has a major problem and yet you do nothing! That's criminal.

THYROID. Change in character, starving all the time, fur loss, it sure sounds like his thyriod.
Thyroid cancer in cats is actually VERY treatable, and thyroid cancer doesn't spread.
A small pill a couple times a day will help him.
Off to the vet's for a blood test. PRONTO- since you've been letting him go on like this for too long.
How many symptoms to you NEED before you take the poor thing to the vet's? Crikey.

Making dietary changes is your first line of defense in treating hypothyroidism. Learn here https://tr.im/hJ7fC

Many people with hypothyroidism experience crippling fatigue and brain fog, which prompts reaching for non-nutritional forms of energy like sugar and caffeine. I’ve dubbed these rascals the terrible twosome, as they can burn out your thyroid (and destabilize blood sugar).

1. Just say no to the dietary bungee cord. Greatly reduce or eliminate caffeine and sugar, including refined carbohydrates like flour, which the body treats like sugar. Make grain-based carbohydrates lesser of a focus, eating non-starchy vegetables to your heart’s content.

2. Up the protein. Protein transports thyroid hormone to all your tissues and enjoying it at each meal can help normalize thyroid function. Proteins include nuts and nut butters; quinoa; hormone- and antibiotic-free animal products (organic, grass-fed meats, eggs, and sustainably-farmed fish); and legumes.
