Yes, bark collars do work. but, only the Electric kind. Place them on them dogs neck high and tight and as soon as they bark, they will learn. It is a better option then getting rid of the dogs. Electric bark collars work on all dogs, promise!!

I would like to suggest using a dog crate, blanket and radio.
I had a dog that would bark all the time when I was not home. So, I started by putting him in a dog crate whenever I went somewhere. He still barked!! So, I thought, what can I do to keep him calm when I'm not home. Reduce the stimuli is the solution I came up with. The next time I had to leave him I put him in his crate, put a blanket over the crate, and left a radio on playing calming music at regular volume. After doing this I did not receive another complaint about my dog barking.
I have never used a bark collar, but I would not want to be given a shock just for trying to talk.
I hope this helps.

I had the same exact problem. I ended up buying a $60 bark collar at Petco and it worked really well. It was called Pet Safe. I've tried the one that sprays in the dogs face but that did not work at all. Most dogs just turn their heads and keep barking. After one month of using it he doesn' t bark anymore! Plus I take him to daycare and they even said he doesn't bark during nap time anymore after they used the bark collar for a few days. I was not going to give up my dog. Some people will call you a bad person but isn't it much worse to give away a dog for a problem that can be fixed?

you incredibly do no longer know how long she must be barking. For all you know, it must be for 5 minutes, or it must be for 3 hours at once until eventually she passes out. you incredibly can not say given which you go away the premises. i do no longer know approximately regulations, yet they could evaluate the barking some time of public nuisance, which could be an actual violation. after all, you should be a deferential neighbor. I advise, you does no longer choose for somebody pounding on the partitions for minutes, or hours once you're homestead, that's actually what the barking is like. with the intention to be a deferential neighbor, and to stay away from entering into difficulty with your landlord, you have countless techniques. a million. purchase a bark collar. this is not as merciless as some people make it out to be. on the backside putting, this is much less painful than a static ask your self. The canine learns rapidly, and settles down. 2. Do preparation on your canine's seperation stress. you're able to do all kinds of drills to assist the canine learn how to be ok by using itself. you may look those up on google. 3. placed the canine on stress drugs. 4. Get the canine de-barked. it is the main intense and final option. it is on condition that your landlord is threatening to the two throw you or the canine out. good luck!

Bark collars do not work. The dog will simply outsmart the bark collar and bark when it isn't on (and will become more frustrated and aggressive when it is on).
Consider giving both of your dogs a hardcore exercise before you leave everyday. A tired dog is a good dog and chances are the pooches will sleep until you get back.
Smaller dogs tend to be yappier (most just like to hear themselves "talk"). But they could also be trying to get attention this way. When they are barking, don't talk to them. Ignore them until they stop, then go to them and reward them for being quiet. Even yelling at them while they are barking gives them attention.
Good luck! And thank you for refusing to give up your dogs! I love seeing a good owner on here =]
EDIT: Bark collars may have a few good stories, but this is not always the case. As a Humane Society volunteer (and dog trainer for the CT Humane Society) I see massive numbers of people complaining that their bark collar didn't work, so they need to turn the dog in.
Remember, when you use a bark collar you are punishing a dog for trying to communicate with you. A more sensitive dog will not be happy about this and will most likely shut down emotionally. Some dogs may figure out that the collar zaps them when they bark because they shouldn't be barking, but this isn't always the case. More aggressive dogs may lean toward human or collar-based aggression because of this issue.
Save your money. Don't buy a bark collar. They are cruel and limiting.
And NEVER spray your dog in the face with ANYTHING. It can cause serious health issues and your dog will be VERY frustrated with you

Mild shock collar is all you need. Once they learn not to bark your problem will be solved. Talk to your vet about which unit to buy for the size of your dogs. Collars are not cruel. Some people try to portray them as animal cruelty but the shock is very mild and just causes a discomfort that sends a message to the doggy brain. You can't put a collar for a Pit Bull onto a Chihuahua. Talk to your vet.

When your dog barks immediately go up to him and say shhhh (not loudly) and put your hand around his snouth. And say, be quiet. And then let go and stay sitting in front of him for a few seconsd. If he barks again? Do the same thing over and over. That's what I did with my chatty little toy poodle and it eventually worked. Takes patience! But you have to be consistent. Can't let him get away with it sometimes.
Goodluck!!

Why would your dogs want to bark AT an apartment? Did it suddenly move?! I think you meant to say "IN an apartment."
You knew you already had the problem when you were at the house. You're just dealing with it NOW?! You can't sit on your butt and allow that to go on in an apartment or very soon you will be evicted. There are noise ordinances in a city and you have neighbors close by now. This is something you should have been working on for a long time. Your dogs are young and become anxious when you leave. You need to work with them. Start by leaving the room for a moment, then return. GRADUALLY start making your absences a bit longer, minute by minute. This process can not be done in an day or even a week. You will have to work with them for some time. Also you need to provide toys for them and things to chew. You might also leave a radio on playing (very softly) or leave the TV on (perhaps Animal Planet?) very softly, for company. And get a frigging book and READ! EDUCATE yourself about dogs and their behavior. Make the effort, or you and your dogs will both be getting the boot.
