This is a beautiful wish, I think. Your wedding should be special; what could make it more special than being in the most beautiful church?

On the other hand, the Catholic Church recommends that your marriage ceremony take place in your own parish church, or that of your family. The thought here is that marriage is a challenging thing, that for the marriage to succeed, you need the love and support of family and friends around you, to help you as you go through your lives together. As you and your spouse return week after week to worship in the church in which you were married, gathered together with the friends and families who were there for you on your day, your commitment and devotion to one another deepens. Thus, the ordinary parish church takes on a beauty and a significance that it might never seem to have had before.

I hope I have given you something to think about. I wish you and your intended a happy and blessed wedding. God bless you both!

P.S. I think the nicest and the biggest Catholic church in the whole country is the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, DC. It is truly lovely. They don't hold weddings there, but if you are ever in the DC area, please do visit this truly splendid church.

There are many very nice Catholic Churches throughout the United States. One cannot just walk in and get married, however. There is preparation that must be done (typically takes about 6 months), and preference is always given to members of the parish.

Whatever city you are in, start with the Cathedral and then visit all the other parishes for Mass. You'll likely find something that suits you, and then you can move into that parish and begin preparation for marriage.

Why no longer get married on your loved ones church? or wont that provoke the acquaintances adequate? wide-unfold shallow thinking.....unhappy
