Millions of people have been taught that Moses gave the children of Israel the Ten Commandments recorded in Exodus 20:3-17. Therefore they refer to this Law as the Law of Moses.

The Ten Commandments did not come from Moses but from God. They were intended for all the nations of the world, but many of the nations during the time of Moses had departed from God.

Furthermore the original Sabbath (7th day-Saturday) established by God was established at Creation. The Sabbath existed , and was God's holy day before the children of Israel arrived at Mt. Sinai as shown in Exodus 16.

The Sabbath(7th day-Saturday), has existed from creation, and more than two millenniums later, this same Lord, the person of the Godhead who became Jesus Christ, commanded his people to keep it holy.

The Sabbath is one of the identifying marks of God's true church.Note: Ezekiel 12:20; 20:20.

The original Sabbath has never been changed by divine authority.(Exodus 20:8-11). Note: Luke 4:16.

Hello Hogie,

I would strongly encourage you to do a theological and historical study on the Sabbath from the New Testament perspective. You have missed the point. Jesus didn't abolish or abrogate the Law by his death as some advocate. Jesus upheld the Law. Note: Matthew 5:17-19; Luke 16:17, Luke 4:16,Matthew 12:12. Jesus commanded and kept the Sabbath day Holy. John 14:15. "If ye love me keep my Commandments." No deviation from strict integrity will meet God's approval.

Since the Bible does not support a change in God's Laws, I will share some information from the Catholic sources.

"The Catholic Church for over one thousand years before the existence of a Protestant, by virtue of her divine mission, changed the day from Saturday to Sunday."--Catholic Mirror, Sept,1893.
"You are a Protestant, and profess to go by the Bible only; and yet you go against the plain letter of the Bible, and put another day in the place of the Sabbath. The command to keep holy the seventh day is one of the Ten Commandments; who gave you the authority to tamper with the fourth?"--Library of Christian Doctrine, page 3.
"But you may read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, and you will not find a single line authorizing the sanctification of Sunday. The Scriptures enforce the religious observance of Saturday, a day which we never sanctify."--Gibbon's Faith of Our Fathers, page 111.
"The observance of Sunday by the Protestants is an homage they pay, in spite of themselves, to the authority of the Catholic Church."--Plain Talk About Protestantism, by Father Segur, page 213.
"Protestantism, in discarding the authority of the church, has no good reason for its Sunday theory, and ought, logically, to keep Saturday with the Jews."-- American Catholic Quarterly Review, Jan.,1883.
"If you look to the Bible as an authority for the observance of the day, you will not find it. It is well to remind the Presbyterians, Methodists, Baptists, and all other Christians outside the pale of the Mother Church, that the Bible does not support them anywhere in the observance of Sunday. The Seventh-day Adventists are the only ones who properly apply the term 'Sabbath,' because they do observe the seventh day, and not the first day, as the day of rest."--Clifton Tracts, Vol.IV, page 15.
"Now, every child in school knows that the Sabbath day is Saturday, the seventh day of the week; and yet, with the exception of the Seventh-day Adventists, all Protestants keep Sunday instead of the Sabbath day, because the Catholic Church made this change in the first ages of Christianity."--Father Gerritsma, in the Winnipeg (Manitoba) Free Press. April 21, 1884.
She (The Roman Catholic Church) claims the authority to change times and laws. I choose to stand alone on the Word of God!
The bottom line is the original Sabbath was not changed by divine authority, but by profane authority. The Beast did change times and laws for those who wish to follow that Mark.

Bottom line for all those who wish to continue to reject God's Law, and the Sabbath, which is a part of that Law:

1John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.

How is the Church of God identified at the end time? Revelations 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

It is NOT either /or as some folks would have it, it is both Commandment keeping and testimony of Christ that identifies the Church.

The Sabbath was and continues to be a test commandment for all those who genuinely wish to follow God.

What did Paul say about the value of keeping God's Law to the gentile church?

1Corinthians 7:19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

This shows that God doesn't care if you are Jew or Gentile, He only cares if you obey.

What else does Paul say? Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

What is sin? 1 John 3:4.

And just so you can see that Paul and John were on the same page:

Romans 7:7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? Romans 7:12 Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Paul is calling the commandments HOLY.

The idea that the resurrection was on a Sunday is false.

Also, it is pretty simple to determine which day the Sabbath is, the Jews have kept it in an unbroken cycle since before the first coming of Yeshua. What the RCC influenced calender says is of no consequence in that particular argument

Edit: 11/13/2007 Hogie: PLEASE READ 1 JOHN 2:4!! ENOUGH SAID!

Saturday is the sabbath. It is the day that Christians ( ones who follow Christ) should be following.

During His life, Jesus kept Sabbath. After his death the apostle Paul also kept Sabbath.

Luke 4:16 “He went to Nazareth, where He had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day He went into the synagogue, as was His custom, and He stood up to read.”

Acts 13:42-44 “As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath. When the congregation was dismissed, many of the Jews and devout converts to Judaism followed Paul and Barnabas, who talked with them and urged them to continue in the grace of God.
On the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the word of the Lord.”

God Promises blessings to those who keep his Sabbath Holy.

Isaiah 56:2
“Blessed is the man who does this,
The man who holds it fast,
Who keeps the Sabbath without
Desecrating it,
And keeps his hands
From doing any evil.”
Isaiah 56:4-8 “For this is what the LORD says:
To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths,
Who choose what pleases me
And hold fast to my covenant-
To them I will give within my temple and
Its walls
A memorial and a name
Better than sons and daughters:
I will give them an everlasting name
That will not be cut off.
And foreigners who bind themselves to the LORD
To serve Him,
To love the name of the LORD,
And to worship Him,
All who keep Sabbath without
Desecrating it
And who hold fast to my covenant-
These I will bring to my Holy Mountain
And give them joy in my house of Prayer.
Their burnt offerings and sacrifices
Will be accepted on my alter;
For my house will be called
A house of prayer for all nations”
The Sovereign LORD declares-
He who gathers the exiles of Israel:
“I will gather still others to them
besides those already gathered.”’

The Sabbath is Still Saturday and it is still a command of God to worship on that day.

Matthew 5:17-19 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen; will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the Kingdom of Heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven.”

Edit: To those who think the Lords day is sunday.... Read these passages:

Matthew 12:8 “For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.”
Mark 2:28 “So the Son of Man is lord even of the Sabbath.”
Luke 6:5 “Then Jesus said to them “the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath.””

Jesus plainly says that He is Lord of the Sabbath.... nothing here about Sunday.

EDIT again: For those who use the ... but he was raised from the dead on Sunday. That just proves that God ordained REST on the Sabbath. Jesus was dead on Sabbath. Death is compared to sleep in scripture. If God wanted to cancel out the Sabbath, He would have raised Jesus on Saturday, but He didn't. He waited till Sunday!

Edit- hopefully the last: Records of the days of the week have been kept since Jesus time. There has never been a change in the weekly schedule. There have been yearly and monthly changes but the Seven day week has remained intact. Jesus celebrated Sabbath and the days have not changed since his time. If they were worshiping on the wrong day, it would have said so in the Gospels. God Blessed the day and made it holy! Why would he make a day holy and bless it and then not leave us a way to figure out which day it was???

We know from history what anxierhui wrote too...we choose to follow God and not man's traditions. Ellen White was inspired, but we don't follow her. She was a Seventh-day Adventist, but not the founder of the SDA Church. She was advanced in her knowledge of health. Things she wrote about over 100 years ago have been scientifically proven fact in recent times...and her writings were based on the Holy Bible. She did see visions as the Bible said would happen--that we would have the Spirit of Prophecy in the latter days. So if she followed the Bible and I also follow the Bible, then it would seem as though I might be following her. If we all believe the same thing, it stands to reason that we all are following Truth eh? The same goals of those who seek Truth is to end up with the same conclusions.
God's Laws are for all human kind since Creation.

If you say you love God and do not keep the commandments, then you are a liar and the truth is not in you. (1 John 2:4)

The ones who keep God's commandments are the ones who will be able to enter heaven and have the right to the tree of life. (Revelation 22:14)

In the judgement of all...God will take into consideration whether a person knew or had access to know all the truth. (Luke 12:46-48)

Gilbert;

The law of Moses is so called because Moses is the mediator of that law, which includes the ten commandments.

You state that the ten came from God, which is correct, but through Moses, and even Jesus Christ refers to the law as coming from Moses.

The sabbath, or seventh day, was the day that came after the sixth day, and ended a weekly cycle. God blessed and sanctified that particular seventh day He rested on. It does not say God blessed and sanctified every seventh day, or that God rested on every seventh day. Neither is there any internal evidence showing where anyone prior to Sinai kept the sabbath. You are reading into the text what is not there.

Also, there is no statement in Scripture where Jesus Chrst commanded his people -- Christians, to keep the sabbath, or any of the law. Acts 15 cleared this up for the early church. Why don't you believe it? Maybe your beliefs are more important to you than what Scripture reveals?

The sabbath was the sign between God and Israel, and God eventually abandoned Israel over their sins. As Jesus said, "your house is left to you desolate."

The identifying mark of Christians is that they would have love for one another. What is common in Sabbatarian churches is not love, but a constant judging of others regarding each one's adherence to the law, especially the sabbath.

Your last claim is useless when you consider the sabbath is a point of law in the old covenant, which is replaced by the new. Have you not read the warning of Paul in Galatians 5:1?

The Sabbath was given to Israel, not the church. The Sabbath is still Saturday, not Sunday, and has never been changed. But the Sabbath is part of the Old Testament Law, and Christians are free from the bondage of the Law (Galatians 4:1-26; Romans 6:14). Sabbath keeping is not required of the Christian—be it Saturday or Sunday. The first day of the week, Sunday, the Lord's Day (Revelation 1:10) celebrates the New Creation, with Christ as our resurrected Head. We are not obligated to follow the Mosaic Sabbath—resting, but are now free to follow the risen Christ—serving. The Apostle Paul said that each individual Christian should decide whether to observe a Sabbath rest, “One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind” (Romans 14:5). We are to worship God every day, not just on Saturday or Sunday.

Did you know that the Anti-Christ is going to make Sunday the official sabbath and all the world will worship him on that day?

Everything God has Satan wants to destroy by making it his.

But personally I don't worry about it I worship God everyday of my life and if I have to work on a Saturday or a Sunday He'll understand.
We do what we have to do especially if its for the benefit of others.

Just to let you know the old testament is the new testament concealed and the new testament is the old testament revealed.

Don't worry my friend, Jesus loves you.
