I think if were talking Spirits here then Id be worried. I thought I was bad drinking 2 glasses of wine week nights but . Its fine to like wine, Id totally drink wine over chocolate and think that people do a lot of scare mongering about drinking. Its hard to be perfect all the time, and an odd drink shouldnt kill ya.
But If you are really drinking this much spirits then Id think that you should talk to someone. Start off with a friend or someone in your family. Also ask why are you drinking this, is something else going on in your life that you need to resolve. Bad Relationship, psychological issue. If so youll need to tackle those. If your lonely and drink then go out and do something, keeping busy will keep you off the booze.

the amount you're drinking does seem to be a lot.it seems as tho ur looking for opportunities to slip a drink in here and there, which would tend to suggest you have a little problem with booze.if you can only start the day following an alcoholic drink, then now is probably a good time to seek help.i too would choose wine over chocolate but i would acknowledge that to be a treat rather than a necessity.please get help or things will escalate to a point where help arives too late.

If you drink more than 11 units a week then, Yes. A unit is a medium glass of wine, a measure of spirits or a half glass of beer.
If I were you I would seek help. Drinking in the morning is dangerous. You will still have alcohol in your bloodstream from the previous night and as you drive it will not be long before you kill someone. Sadly that's what alcoholics do and they survive. A bit unfair isn't it. Just think of the cost to your body, your pocket, your friends and family and your employers. Seek help now.

If you could give it up tomorrow, with no bother then no, you're not an alcoholic, but a very heavy drinker. If you can't give it up or really REALLY cut down to say 1 glass of wine OR 1 bailey's coffee OR 1 measure of spirit plus mixer, then you definitely have a problem. Does the amount you drink effect your work? do you take days off, or skimp on food to buy drink? - Think of your health if nothing else, you're not doing your liver, skin, heart or brain any good - seek help

It sounds like you are very unhappy, You can stop the drinking I did after 15 years and now if I want to drink a glass of wine I can and not have a seconds one as I use to. I gave my life to Jesus by asking. I said Lord Jesus would you come into my heart and be my Lord and Savor, then I said Lord now that your my Savor will you remove this drinking desire from me. I got up the next morning and in the last 14 years I can hold all I have drink in one hand less than two cans of beer and a small glass of wine. Asking God to take the desire away really does work with huge benefits. As God to help you and if you believe He will do as you ask, it is his word, I can witness to that as a fact. God Bless you I love you and I will pray for you.

Hi Melissa,
You are an alcoholic, but don't worry too much because it is treatable.
I am a recovered alcoholic (one year sober) and anyone who
knows anything about alcoholism will tell you that no one can help an alcoholic better than another alcoholic.
I have read through all the answers and surprised that only a few mention AA, this is your best bet, they have saved my life and millions of others their web address is:-
http://www.alcoholics-anonymous.org.uk
An important thing to remember is that alcoholism is a disease, just like diabetes is a disease and can be treated
successfully, if you really want to.
I have been going to AA meetings for a year, you may be surprised to hear that they are very sociable, often entertaining meetings, I met a fellow lady alcoholic at one and we became engaged last month her name is Caz.
You can go to a meeting near you and just listen, you don't have to say or do anything that you don't want to do, my late wife was an alcoholic and she died of liver failure three years ago at the age of fifty.
I have put you down as a contact because every recovered or recovering alcoholic has a duty to help others in the same position.
I urge you to go to a meeting, if you would like to talk it over, feel free to email me, if you prefer to talk toa lady, my fiance Caz, will be more than willing to help.

There's an acronym CAGE that can help you decide:
Have you ever felt the need to Cut down on your drinking?
Have others Annoyed you by criticising your consumption of alcohol?
Have you ever felt Guilty about drinking?
Do you sometimes need an Eye opener? (i.e. do you feel the need for a drink in the mornings when you get up?)
If the answer to at least two of these questions is yes, there is said to be a 93% chance you are an alcoholic.

Only you can answer that question. So think about these questions to help you decide.
Do you drink to get drunk every day?
Are you dependent on alcohol to get you through the day? Are there ever days you don't drink? Can you go without drinking for a day or two and if so how do you function?
Designate yourself a "give your liver a break day" every few days!

1/2 a bottle of spirits per night... I aint no doctor but I'd say thats quite possibly around your weekly allowance... You do know that alcohol is a toxine and not a drink... Your not giving your liver much of a chance if your drinking that much every night... Have you tried not drinking for a day??? If you cant manage one day you might want to talk to someone about it.....

I would try to cut back a little. Or actually a lot, over drinking can cause a lot of health problems, including alcoholism, which is a very serious disorder.
Check out:

For more info. Good Luck! Have fun, but be safe.
