How many of you have seen this post - http://www.newstarget.com/009587.html? How in the world can you argue with this?

Panda - please read up on T. Colin Campbell's work in the site/book The Cancer Study. It details exactly what you are talking about - over 100 villages in China where children develop cancer and disease because of their environment and what they ingest. There's no arguing with Campell's work. Yes, it's appalling, and also TRUE. Please read up on cause and effect and I hope you'll join the alternative movement.

Yikes! Panda posted another link in another thread - http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_6x_the_history_of_cancer_72.asp that says half of all men and one third of all women develop cancer in their lifetime, but that's the US. I think there's no plan to develop a cure and/or prevent it in the United States. Campbell's work gives me hope.

You know, I don't understand what the problem is with "promotional websites." Some of these guys or ladies write for a living! If the information is sound, we should not dismiss the data.

Many that have had cancer feel that others and I insult and blame them by insinuating that only unhealthy people get cancer. I don't think that's it at all. Please don't think I'm trying to insult anyone. Most of the alternative field doesn't believe that you can eat healthy and still get cancer. It appears that may not be the case, but I still want more information. That is why I'm asking questions. I'm not asking tough questions to make anyone feel bad or to insinuate you need to clean up your diet.

However, I'm still convinced there may be other causes. There is apparently a fairly high hereditary cause, and BC seems to be high even with those that at least eat healthy. Please stop thinking that we are trying to blame you for causing your disease. We (hopefully!) are all looking for the real cause. I know that's why I'm still digging. Let's please unite in trying to find the cause, not a cure! You don't need a cure if you never get cancer!

Like lots of things that sound good, this post has some truth mixed in with the bunk. It is funny that I am a healthy eater and an exerciser and still got breast cancer at 34...and it was Stage IV by the time it was found . Saying that only unhealthy people get cancer insults and blames the victim.

Since my diagnosis, people have sent books that claim there are easy cures like a certain diet or coffee enemas will cure cancer and the pharmaceutical companies are conspiring to keep a cure from happening. Remember that America has Medicare and other countries have socialized healthcare and would save BILLIONS if there was a cure.

This article is nothing but a promotion for alternative medicine. How much are alternative medicine people paying this guy to write and publish his article. Alternative medicine concentrates on prevention. Prevention doesn't always work, obviously. There are many people who already have cancer, what good is prevention for them???? This writer, like nearly all journalists, leaves out lots of information. This writer leads one to believe that we are born with perfectly healthy bodies, which is absolutely not true, and that we ruin our bodies ourselves. The truth: we are all born with defective genes of one kind or another and are susceptible to many diseases.....just look around we all have or will have something wrong. Lifestyle and environment play a role in promoting or preventing diseases or disorders, but they are NOT the only reason and may not be a reason at all is us getting sick. The article isn't convincing at all of anything, other than the writer is ignorant.

I agree with Panda that this is not the forum for this post.

Also as Panda is exceptionally well-informed about cancer I'm sure she is familiar with Campbell's work (it's actually called The China Study, not The Cancer Study) and I think you are being extremely patronising to someone who has had to inform herself of the FACTS in the most unimaginably awful circumstances, rather than as a hobby as in your case.

Posting another link to a promotional website that blames the victim and claims cancer is self-inflicted because of life-style is no more persuasive than your posts that imply people who've had cancer are lying about their diets and lifestyles.

I'd say the con is in the eye of the beholder considering the author of the article is planning to write and sell books. All I see is an exaggerated opinion with little or no evidence and misinterpreted facts.

Please move this argument to a political page . . this has nothing to do with those of us fighting for our children with cancer. It is appalling that anyone would blame a childs cancer for their 'lifestyle' choice. The author appears to have little knowledge about childhood cancer.
