8:00pm is always the best time for a party of any kind.
The exception is afternoon BBQs, which of course commence in the afternoon. :-)

It depends on if these adults have small children. This group will want to be home early and you may want to start 7 or 8. If not I would start around 9. However this is not a cocktail party which usually happens right after work before dinner. If you are having it later in the evening call it a holiday party where drinks will be served.

If it is cocktail party 9pm is the best time that way everybody is having fun by then and getting it on. Adults want to have fun too

Any time is a good time for a saturday night adult christmas cocktail party.
But if you aren't serving dinner, i would suggest 8pm.

7 or 8 ish is good. Gives people time to get catch up things on saturday done and those with kids will have them fed and taken care of for the sitter. Not too early and not too late to accomodate everyone.
