I have just recently rescued a 3yr old male siberian husky who was basically mistreated from day 1. he was brought up on porridge and leftover scraps, he has been in the breeders kennel since september and looks healthy now he dwarfs over my husky b1tch. he has lost some sight in both eyes due to malnutrition and it gets on my effing wick when people do this to pets. i just thought you animal lovers would like to know plus i wantedto lose some anger. has anyone else rescued pets before

to fenland i understand what you say but his parents, grandparents and great great grandparents have all been hip scored which have all been acceptable for the breed standards. they have all also been eye tested for all known eye diseases which are clear if they were not the particular breeder wouldnot breed from them. my other husky who is his niece is perfectly healthy so i knew what i was on about when i first submitted my story and question. thankyou

Our buddy, a pom mix, was bald in places on his body, he would eat and not two minutes later it was pouring out the other end and he was in awful shape.
Kadee, our pitbull was beaten terribly and terrified of everything.
Both are now thriving wonderfully on 27 acres of playground. Both are well fed, coats are shiny, good body functions and get along great with other animals..including cats.
I wish I knew the families that had these dogs before we got them, I'd like to go beat and kick them around a bit. To treat such adorable, loving animals such as these in this manner breaks my heart.
Some years back I took a siberian husky away from a woman that would just throw empty food cans---lids and all--on the floor to 'feed' the dog. When I got her, her tongue was almost cut in half, her paws were sliced up and one lip was missing a piece. I took her to the vet to find out she had nails through her back feet (I didn't see them in my initial inspection due to the dirt, hair and massive mess she was in)...the lady that had owned her had nailed her back feet to the floor to "keep her home". I immediately called the animal rescue folks to go get the other dog and two cats from her home as well. They, in turn called Child Protective Services to remove her 3 young children from the home too.
I kept Smoky throughout the rest of her life. She watched over my daughter, very protective of her as an infant, was a wonderful dog and a great friend. Now we have Buddy and Kadee and they too, will be with us until God deems fit to take them back to Puppy Heaven.
God bless You for being such a loving, caring soul. It is horrid the way some people will treat an animal. These people should have the same things done to them that they do to the animals they abuse.

I rescued a rottweiler aged 2 and a half who was kept at a pub. They had an alsation and also a yorkshire terrier. They tried to breed the yorkshire terrier who I might add with the alsation and hence the back end of the yorkie was ripped but the good news was that the little dog did recover and was found a lovely home. All three dogs were taken from the people. The Rotty, Tina, was beaten to make her vicious but it did not work so she was beaten some more. My son worked at the RSPCA and told me about the rotty and I adopted her. She was the most loving dog you could ever meet although she did not like my cat. I had to have her put to sleep when she was nearly 13. I have another rottie now who I call Bliss and I adopted her from a rescue centre in February of this year, she is now a year old. She had a bad time also. She has cost me hundreds of pounds in the house but I would not part with her for the world. All the animals I have could tell a story.

Hi
I've rescued so many dogs and cats over the years and like everybody else who has sent in a reply - it really drives me mad - honestly if I was PM I would be building prisons for those who abuse animals!! The g'ment just fail to see the relationship between animal cruelty and child cruelty and all the other problems!!
One little story which is sad - I rescued a beautiful black and white cat from a family who were not feeding it - it moved in with us and one day it never appeared I went back to the people to see if the cat went back to their house - it did, they locked it in the house and their daughter killed it - apparently accidentally!!!! I was so angry and even reporting to the police nothing was done - I was 14 at the time but I will never forget that cat btw I called him Duke of Wellington as he had the biggest feet I ever seen and he was so beautiful. Honestly remembering him, brings tears to my eyes as he was just so beautiful.
But it is so nice to hear everybody else's stories of their successful rescues at the mo, I have a 14 yr old collie (slightly deaf, with failing eyesight) and a 12 yr old deaf cat - they are my babies and they were both rescued.

I love animals. I absolutely freak when I hear about an animal that is being abused or has been abused. The ignorant people that harm animals are the ones that have to pay. The only thing that us animal lovers can do is donate to different anti-animal cruelty organizations, adopt abused and abandoned animals from shelters, and spay and neuter our animals. If we continue being kind to animals and nature, our Earth will be a better place, for us, and the animals.

Some people are too sick for words.
I currently have an elderly female Saluki. Her original owners got her as a puppy and used her for illegal hunting. She was fed a crap diet-junk food most days apart from days she hunted on which she got fed raw meat from whatever she killed. She has a scar on her nose that came from a fox she was obviously set after. Then when she got to 6 she was dumped because she started to miss more animals than she caught.Luckily the scum were caught and I got her so it's not all bad.
I also used to have a male Bearded Collie who had been treated badly-beaten etc-before we got him.He was ultra-nervous at first but calmed down and was a great dog.Sadly he died of a stroke 2 years ago.
I now have another Bearded Collie but have had him from a young age.

GOOD FOR U! Yes, I usually have 12-14 rescues at a time. My primary 6 are huskies and they are all rescues from abusive situations (one is deaf and is believed to be from repeated ear infections which weren't treated). Another was left chained to the fence when the owner moved, one from BYB who let her get so eaten up with parasites she was left at the vet to be euthanized, one who was dumped in the yard with a choke chain around her neck that had to be cut off and she still won't let anyone come near her but me...it just goes on and on and it is totally incomprehensible that people can be so cruel. I am extremely picking when rehoming these dogs but I will always be a huge advocate for adopting the abondoned and abused and have had some great success stories. Most of them seem to know that they are now going to be loved and cared for after a short period of time and are extra affectionate and loving.

I've rescued lots of them and just when I think I have seen the worst, someone manages to shock the holy hell out of me.
What's sad is that a lot of people just feel no empathy when it comes to animals. They claim to be an animal lover, but if their kind of love is love, then I want no part of it.
One dog we rescued had been hit by a car and the owner just put him in the back of the truck and covered the dog with a tarp and left him like that for days! Then he claimed to love the dog sooooooo much! Then people call you rude when you get upset because some moron on here refuses to take their dog to the vet! When you have seen what I an other rescuers have seen, you understand a lot more.
It's disgusting what people are capable of, and I for one lose more faith in people everyday.

I live on the beautiful Colorado river. This guy had a litter of pit bull/black lab mixes and was moving and said he couldn't take them with him so he said he was going to drown them in the river(they were 2 days old).Naturally I told him I would take the litter all 7 of them. Then once I got the pups I turned his *** in but I guess I didn't have enough proof.Well I bottle fed each and every one of those pups and they all survived.I still have my girl out of the litter she will be 4 years old this April and she's healthy as ever.I don't see how these assholes could be so cruel they need to be beat and mistreated just like what they did to the poor defenseless animals.
