Well you can not go wrong with a Vegie tray or a fruit tray. Something warm like Hot Chocolate is always good. If your having quite a few people over a cake would not be bad! My mom has this recipe for hot buttered rum. You add 1/2 a carton of vanilla icecream,,,,, a bunch of bown sugar, a bunch of white sugar, about 1/2 a cube of butter and dont forget the cinimon, and then you mix it all together and it is kind of creamy and mushy. then you boil some water and add in a spoonfull of the mix into each cup...... then you can add in some rum... but for children no rum is fine... there you have it hot buttered rum! Brownies are good too.

Chips and any kind of homemade dip
Cheeseball and crackers
Veggies and ranch
The great thing about all these things is that they can be prepared ahead of time, so they don't take prep time away from your main dishes, which may have to be cooked the day of the holiday, party etc.

I like to serve taco dip/tortilla chips..
1 can refried beans
1 envelope taco seasoning
1 jar salsa
1 brick cream cheese (softened)
1 c. sour cream
8 oz. shredded cheddar cheese..
Mix together refried beans, taco seasoning spread onto serving dish (a shallow bowl works well)
Beat cream cheese/sour cream together (spread on top bean mix)
Layer salsa on top of sour cream/cream cheese mixture
Top w/ cheddar cheese and chill for at least 2 hours....
Serve with tortilla chips....
I also like to serve chocolate fondue w/ fruits/cake/cookies
chips/dip
veggies/dip
