I'm a type 1 diabetic.
I'm an EMT and I wear Bates Stealth boots. They protect my feet and are actually quite comfortable. I did put support pads in my boots for added comfort since I spend a great deal of time on my feet.
Galls has an excellent selection of boots. Go to www.galls.com and take a look.

RE:
Where can I find good Steel Toe boots for a Diabetic?
My dad has diabetes and he's a welder. He has trouble finding work boots that don't take a toll on his feet. Is there a place that sells a good variety of steel toe boots that provide the cushioning a diabetic needs? I did a web search and found a few sites that carried a few but they...

I'm a 45 year old woman and was recently diagnosed as being a borderline diabetic. My doctor prescribed some medication, but before filling it I decided to do some research on the internet which led me to the methods. After reading this ebook and applying the methods, my scepticism turned to 100% belief. I noticed that my energy levels increased significantly and I felt more rested in the morning, my symptoms started going away.
I am very happy to tell you that I have been feeling better than I have felt in years and my doctor informed me that he will be taking me off my prescriptions if I keep this up.
I recommend you use the Type 2 Diabetes Destroyer to naturally reverse your diabetes.

With the newer types of insulin these days, diabetic diets aren't necessarily as restrictive as they used to be. Read here https://tr.im/WoLAv
As with any medicine or diet change, you should discuss it with your doctor. Fruits, both fresh and dried, have a natural sugar in them that will raise blood sugar levels, so be careful about eating too much. Not sure about the nuts. Moderation is always the key. I've been diabetic for 18 years and just recently changed insulin types. I love it because it gives me more freedom in when and what I eat.

Have you looked at Z-Coil boots and shoes? I am not sure but think some of them have buckles or are pull on.
Z-Coil were developed at Sandia Labs in Albuquerque and are just great for preventing lots of problems with the feet.
The coil can be covered or not. Extra $$ for the cover, but totally worth it.
