Are things like ginger, garlic, chile peppers that burn the mouth, not healthy for us? This is a very serious question and I would like some well thought out answers. Please no replies from the usual morons who hang out in this section.

On the contrary. These are what are known as herbs of Mars because they defend themselves against being eaten. In general, they stimulate the circulation and this has various uses. Ginger encourages local circulation and improves absorption. It can also be warming and help with cold extremities. Garlic is also a circulatory stimulant but should be avoided if on anticoagulant medication. It can remove heavy metals from the body, help with coughs and colds and is antifungal. Chili peppers can help recovery from strokes, but in enormous doses, far too high to be feasible like 2 litres of tabasco sauce, cause heart failure. They are also high in vitamin C, provitamin A and flavonoids. Many others are also good, such as horse radish, which can help with overactive thyroids, is again very high in vitamin C and kills 'flu viruses.

In the use of the chili pepper, the natural acid that enters the stomach causes an increase in the protective fluids the stomach secretes. This in turn helps to prevent stomach ulceration and helps cure those that already have this disorder.
As far as the burning of the mouth, use foods that have the dairy chemical cassine. This chemical helps reduce the burning sensation.
Also, a byproduct of eating chilies is the 'rush' that you can feel in your blood system after the meal.

i guess by not healthy you mean actively deletorious to your health?

Only in VERY VERY high doses is the answer. The active ingredient that causes the burning sensation is a chemical called Capsaicin.
It's actually used in Medical products for various reasons (in low doses)
It is also the basis of non-lethal weapons such as pepper spray
Of course, whether it is healthy or not I'm not entirely sure the reaction is particularly good for you!!!

Ginger is good for the stomach--it's why people drink ginger ale when they're nauseated (although most stuff is so weak as to be useless--get the real stuff without HFCS or make your own ginger infusion). Garlic and onions are good for the blood vessels. I have read that hot foods are actually good for us, but I can't take sear-the-mouth hot, just make-you-sweat-a-bit hot.

No, not true.

In fact, they've found cultures in which many very hot chili peppers are eaten, there is a lesser incidence of stomach and colon cancer.

(I hope you don't think I'm a usual moron....)

They are all very good for us. With the exception you would not want to eat a habanero pepper raw o anything silly like that.

It is proven that cultures that eat food high in peppers, typically have less cases of stomach cancer then other cultures.
