There is all this talk going on about huge untapped gas and oil resources in the arctic circle that will only become available as the ice melts. The ice will melt causing problems, like flooding, for coastal cities (which is pretty much all major cities of the world). But hey, don't worry everyone, we'll have more gas and oil to pump more CO2 into the sky!!! Is this world going crazy. Can't they see the problem with this logic!? Are we all still so short sighted!? Instead of looking for energy recources we are willing to wait for the earth to slowly die (i.e. more melting ice) just so we can drill out more of this dirty energy source!!! Does it infuriate anyone else out there, or is it just me?

Even thought it does not seem like it, the arctic has a very balanced climate. One false move, and you could risk the whole ecosystem. The arctic also keeps us safe, believe it or not. If all that ice was water, don't expect to see the statue of liberty, the golden gate bridge or any other part of any coastal city. We are killing two birds with one stone. First, we will be drilling oil (produces heat, melts ice) and then we burn it (releases CO2, traps sunlight, melts ice.)

Lately, just about everything the human race is doing is infuriating! Why not explore the untapped methane gas in the bottom of lakes for an alternative source? Scientists are so preoccupied with outer-space travel, colonizing other planets and looking for other forms of escaping from the planet they have exploited that they can't seem to see the forest for the trees. Humans are looking for immediate gratification. If it's broken, get a new one. Why bother trying to fix what you have?

If the ice melts due to the natural warming that is occurring, why not capitalize and get any resources we can out of that area. We may never have that chance again.

I can't see any problem. Why shouldn't we drill for our own oil? Why continue getting oil from the middle east?
