I am on a budget traveling through chna and want to get between Wuhan or Yichang to Chong Qing. plus any other advice would be good.

Yangtze is the longest river in China and you can find some good cities around Yangtze,like shanghai,nanjing,wuhan and so on.A blog (chinatouching.com)show a lot of travel pictures about it.now would be a good time to go China because the price is very cheap now.My advise is traveling along with the Yangtze by boat.But it's a little cold.

I would suggest that you take either Victoria or Viking since they provide better facilities and services than the local cruises. The price on Victoria website for the entire stretch (Chongqing-Shanghai) is about $1400+, but if you book through a American travel agency, you can get as low as &900. If you book through a Chinese agency, you can get as low as $700. These are the July rates. For the section between Chongqing and Wuhan (same rate as Yichong), it is about 15% cheaper than chongqing-Shanghai.
If you travel in December, you can get more discount as it is low season.

These are the type of boats and tours that are available for budget travel on the Yangtze River. You should be able to get it even cheaper if you book the ferry only on your own.
