Any exercise will burn the joules but very little in this case. You only look slimmer.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.
I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.
It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

It really takes good nutrition. You've got good tummy muscles. They are just hidden. The best thing you can do is join an organization like Richard Simmons or at least pick up a book on nutrition. One that comes to mind is "The Everything Nutrition Book".

Keeping your tummy area muscles tight all the time will help you a little because if the muscles are constantly being tightened this will slightly eliminate any fat in that area and turn it to muscle which will look leaner, but this is not a substitute for a real workout.

Sucking in your gut will strengthen your gut muscles. It won't make 20 pounds vanish, however. It might, I repeat might, give you somewhat less of the appearance of a gut because you could pull some of the weight perhaps further up on your body, but it's not going to get rid of it. Exercising, however, might allow you to consume some of the fat on your body. But as you get older it gets harder to do. Good luck, anyway.

It is an old wives-tale, holding your tummy in is uncomfortable at best.

no its not true...how can you lose weight if you are just holding your tummy as much as possible? you are just punishing yourself...if you want to lose weight, you have to have a proper diet, exercise daily and avoid eating foods that can make you fat...
