im mid 20's he is mid 30's he has to be prompted to show any affection towards me when alone or out, its really getting me down, we have been going out 2 years, it makes me kinda jealous a bit to when i see all my friends partners are affectionate towards them and look really 'coupley' especially now as im the last one to 'move in together' (i think he is really not keen on that as changes the subject if i just even touch on the subject) im begining to wonder whats a going on?

I wouldn't be concerned about him not showing you affection in public - my fella cringes when I go to hold his hand when we're out (lol). I would be concerned if he wasn't showing you affection when you're alone. A two year relationship should still be fairly fresh. Perhaps his feelings have changed towards you. I think it's best to have a good old heart to heart with him, no matter how painful this might be. If it is time to move on for him don't be too devastated as some relationships just naturally end so don't hate him for it. I hope it doesn't come to that and I sincerely hope the two of you can work this out. Good luck.

not all guys are touch feely. not all guys can say "i love you". Believe me, the ones who can say it easily very rarely mean it! You've been with him 2 years. Is this out of habit? Is it cos there's nothing better out there? Or are there good things that keep you in the relationship? Ask yourself that.
Is he mean? Is he selfish? Does he mistreat you physically or verbally? Does he put you down?
Is he unaffectionate in private aswell as in public? If you answer yes to any of those, then seriously think that you can do better and waste no more time. If the answer is no, then maybe he has a thing about telling you he loves you (some men never say it doesn't mean they don't feel it) and maybe he has a thing about being touchy feely in public (I do, I always have, I can't even hold hands with a guy in public, doesn't mean I haven't been in love). Hope this helps..xox

I think you should break it off--it will not get better. Look for someone who can give you the affection you would like. I dated someone like that for 1-1/2 years, I loved him but that was not returned to me---I think he kept me hanging because I treated him well. Like me, you must break it off and move on. That breakup was VERY painful, but got over it and now married to a wonderful guy who gives me all the affection I could ever want. Good luck.

I would sit down and have "the talk" with him.. See what he is thinking and where HE is in the relationship. If you've been dating for 2 yrs. and he's NOT showing any signs of committment then it might be time to move on... Better now than later....good luck

Its funny beacuse im having the same problem wih my boyfriend he is also in his 30's and im berly turning 21 except he dosent mind holding hands " sometimes" but he recently told me that he has lost interest in me but that he loves me so im hurt right now. I think you should tell him how you feel dont let him put you down because they dont desirve to hurt us or reject us like that. good luck

Well, if he's always been that way, it's probably just him. My bf is the same way. I always have to initiate it. I guess if you just sit down and talk with him about it.

Its time to have the talk.

You are both old enough to get married.

He might be wasting your time.
