...is the planet Earth at times very unstable to life?

Such as -

* erupting Supervolcanoes (there is one ominously simmering underneath Yellowstone National Park, and it is overdue)
* regular, cyclic Ice Ages
* irregular Magnetic Field fluctuations
* violent Siezmic activity
* mass carbon realeses (whereby carbon-storing trees and oceans rapidly decreases it's storage potential of carbon thereby suddenly altering the Earth's temperature).

Most of these events only happen perhaps once every 500,000 years, but most of these are capable of casing mass extinctions.

Indeed, in the last 550 million years there have been 5 major extinctions wherby more than 50% of animal life has perished (including the Dinosaurs).

Now, the point of all this is -

The Earth is sometimes extremly hostile, but if God had designed Earth differently (e.g., a more stable world), then many of these chaotic natural events would not happen.

So why did God design the Earth to act violently?

But these natural disasters were occuring well before man had the chance to sin.

I still cannot believe that some people think that Man and Dinosaus co-existed.

All of your descriptions are compatible with the planet not being designed at all. It's a much more parsimonious explanation.

Another comet impact is due anytime now...

Historical evidences must show vividly if its true that the last 550 million years 50% of animal life has perished etc. We have now all the sophisticated instruments to examine all unearthed artifacts, fosils and can even be counted minutely if these human fantasies can be turned into truth. The Bible is clear that all these violent movement/actions in this physical earth is the result of man's foolishness who listen to the devils lies 6,000 years ago since man was driven out from the presence of his Creator God in the garden of Eden. Why do you blame God and listen to your own finite volition? Read the Holy Bible honestly and you will have the right answer to your perflexing questions. The world is changing population at least every 75 years but the Bible has been with us given by that God as an "Owner's Manual" for thousands of years. Even if there's someone who will come out from the grave to tell us all truth that there is life after death and God is preparing that place for us, "IF" you will not believe, then that is your free will. Thats the great mystery of God in the Bible.

Earth is a living organism, and as such subject to evolutionary changes (some of which you mentioned), just like human beings are. Such changes only have to do with evolution and thermodynamics and have nothing to do with creation. Extinctions were most likely a result of a cataclysmic event such as meteor collision or polar shifts.
Earth is NOT hostile, or violent, it is simply indifferent to fate of species occupying it.

God made a good world. After the first couple God declared it very good. The created world was good and God would have sustained it forever by his power.

Just as the shoes of the Jewish people who left Egypt did not wear out for 40 years and the clothes of the Jewish people did not wear of for 40 years in the dessert, God would have sustained it forever. But man sinned and there was the fall. Man was corrupted and pulled the universe down with himself. Men sinned as a group and the ancient world was destroyed by a flood followed by the one ice age.

We live in a good world by original design, broken and sin cursed and in need of a redeemer. Jeremiah says that one who knows God and knows he does deeds of mercy on this earth... yes this broken sin cursed earth... has something to brag about. Psalm 119 says that the earth is full of God's steadfast love... yes... even this broken sin cursed planet. And angels say to each other holy holy holy is the Lord God Heaven AND earth are filled with His glory... yes this broken sin cursed place - even it.

Why would you ask a human this?
(like we know gods plans.)
All your going to get are personal opinions.
All we have are THEORIES.
We are all on the same page here dude.
We cannot prove or disprove anything and sometimes nature
reacts on actions humans take.
I mean check out Global warning?
That does not mean God didn't create a stable world it just proves how currupt we are as humans.
If we would learn to appreciate and care for things
We wouldn't be using our reserved water and North Carolinas crops would not be dying. Remember God did not create a polluted ocean. We polluted it.
In my personal opinion..Earth is not Violent enough with us.
We are way more nasty with Earth than it is with us.

The biggest world changing disaster in history is and was the flood of biblical proportions. Dinosaurs died off after the flood due to a drastically different atmosphere post-flood. Man adapted but does not live as long or grow as big as pre-flood. Just look at the ages recorded pre-flood compared to post-flood. Same with plants. Plants and animals are nowhere near as big as pre-flood due to these atmospheric changes. Animals that couldn't survive in this new world perished. Those that could grew smaller.

To answer your question: The natural disasters you mentioned are only disasters if you are stupid enough to build at the base of a volcano (eruption), on the beautiful beach (hurricane), on a rivers natural flood plane, on the edge of a cliff, at the base of a mountain. These places are easy to avoid by simply living somewhere else. Tornadoes can't just simply be avoided but really don't kill anywhere near those killed by auto accidents and heart disease. In this world which is perfect for our existence God also gave us brains to use. Magma helps in the balance of our world and needs a place to let off some pressure. God gave us plenty of other places to build our homes.

I would suggest that you are looking at this perfection in a narrow sense. What is "perfect" is birth and renewal. God is responsible for billions of worlds that over billions of years emerge, develop, and then decay. Many are swallowed up by black holes and then are reborn. Recent experiments subjecting primordial gases (nitrogen and hydrogen) to electrical current mimicking lighting show how easy it is to form the basic building blocks of life. So it is reasonable to conclude that life in various forms is very common. So we have a dynamic environment of millions of life supporting planets in various stages of evolution. I would say this is perfect.

They think that the World is only 6000 years old. I suppose they believe that the vast amount of proof for the earth being much older is Satanic in nature.

Thats because God likes it that way. Its perfect for Him. Thats why there is such a thing as MS, Palsy etc... God needs to encourage faith and a world without Volcanoes and AIDS and all the rest just wouldn't be good enough.

Take the existence of a creator god out of the equation and all makes perfect sense. With the evil god IN, all manner of problems occur.
