Hello,
My sister started to work in the UK 2 weeks ago and her employer has not asked her to sign an employment contract form.
She finds it a bit strange, and her boss tells he will send a letter to her later (the contract?) but it's not urgent and not mandatory.
In France (where I come from), it is mandatory that the employee and the employer sign a employment contract form.
Isn't it the case in the UK ?? Do you think the situation is normal ? Any advice ?
Thanks

A contract does not have to be written - a contract is considered to have commenced when your sister started working for the company. However, your sister is entitled to a written statement of the main terms of employment within 2 months of her start date.

Yes, it is mandatory to provide a written contract under English employment law. However, the employer has up to 8 weeks from the start of the employment to deal with it. The contract need not be in any particular form - a letter will do, providing it sets out all the pertinent information.

Its deemed to be a ermanent function, renewable on the tip of each 365 days, or not, as the two events have the splendid to terminate. In any permant job, the two facets have the splendid to teminate with 4 weeks for the time of a probationary era, 3 months, and via settlement thereafter, via 12 weeks be conscious. So, no everlasting function lasts longer than 4 weeks and sooner or later, fairly. however, because of the fact the job is a rolling and renewal one, each 365 days, consequently consiered a clean job, you could lose all enmployees rights as an everlasting member of crew.
